Rolex Submariner service?
Hi folks,
My 2010 16610 is in a good physical condition. Though it's 7 years old Rolex told me I can postpone the service with another 2 years. (They opened the watch). However, theres a few rough edges on the bezel because I hit the watch once pretty badly. These bother me a bit when turning the bezel. Any change Rolex can give the bezel a quick buff on their polish machine without having a full service? Will the bezel also be polished during the full service? Would like to know. Also the bezel insert seems to fade overtime. Will they replace the insert for a fresh one? Would like to know. Thnx |

I believe they will do both of these things if you ask and pay. Consider keeping your faded insert tho and buying a new one. The faded ones look spectacular and have so much character. True Rolex enthusiasts will notice the faded bezel more than a shiny new one.

In Holland there is no official RSC. I wonder who you asked from Rolex ???
Probably just a shop like Gassan/Schaap/Heetman. They might do it but personally I would not let them polish my watch. You can't meet the actual guy working on your watch and you'll never know if they give it to a trainee or whomever. One lousy job is enough to ruin your watch. Consider Wesselink Vreeker Alkmaar or horlogepolijsten.nl and deal in confidence with passionate watch lovers if you can't wait. Really best thing to do is when it's time for service and you want it polished as well sent it to the RSC in Koln, Brussel or London. Favourite is Koln. There is nobody who does it better in the EU. Read up a little on the German forum, nothing but perfect feedback on the RSC Koln.

Last time I let an AD polish a watch it was a disaster and I no longer have that watch.

I'd have Rolex polish it if it really irks you. Personally, I'd just wait two years when you get it serviced.

Rolex Submariner service?

That's true. But since 1-2 years there's an official Rolex boutique at Gassan diamonds HQ and a service center. You can actually see them working behind the window? I assume this is what's called a RSC? But glad you recommend Koln. I remembered that before the existence of the RSC, a friend of mine dropped off his danged up 16610 at Gassan (it was really really worn) and 6 weeks later it looked like brand new. Maybe Gassan sent it out to Switzerland or Germany? I would never let third party polishers work on my watch. It feels like only Rolex has the blueprint to brush the bracelet to how it is when it leaves the factory, no? Also feels like it devalues the watch. I'd love if you can post some topics where the results are shown ? Like before / after? Attached a picture of a small dent on the case that bothers me. It's at the transition from the polished side to the brushes side. Would they be able to fix that? Can they actually brush the shoulders of the lugs to the classic 16610 standard? |

Dents look small imho so if you can ignore and wait... which is what I'd do.

I'd wait as well. Getting that fixed will only make you even more upset when the next knock occurs, which will inevitably happen...

IMO that's nothing. The tech could certainly remove the ding, but in doing so they could also ruin the classic lines and chamfers. I'd leave it alone.

I would wait, unless the watch is a special occasion piece, I wouldn't change either. For a daily wearer the scratches and dings give it character and they feel a story. YMMV.
