I've been noticing some hairline scratches on my daily used Daytona bracelet and this got me thinking of setting up this poll. BTW does your AD offer free cleaning/buffings?

P.S. I've been really gentle on my Daytona but it seems that the bracelet scratches easily.

The only thing that I get buffed...............................

I do use red Jewelers rouge from time to time on my 18k....works like a charm to get a mirror finish!

As a former goldsmith I have the means of buffing it daily.

My AD always asks me if I want my GMT 16710 polished but I keep saying no. I'm waiting for the 5 year service, unless I get a huge scratch that bugs the hell out of me.

Im in the "carefree" group.

I know that everytime you refinish a Rolex, it wears it down a little by removing metal. I paid good money for that chunk of steel and I want to keep every last bit of it.

I never buff, but I wash with handsoap and water. I do the majority of the drying with air (just blowing on it). The rest I do with a microfiber cloth. I don't rub or wipe. I just get the cloth close to the surface of the water droplets, and the fibers soak up the liquid. This dries without leaving smudges or scratches.

I have yet to add hairlines to any shiny parts (I have a GMT-IIc) by cleaning in this careful manner.

Jeebus Red rouge on 18k... gawd. Use white lighning or polonium (not the isotope its a yellow rouge that works really well on watches).

When I see a few too many scratches maybe every 2 months, I ll buff it with some jewlers polish with my tool.

Works very well and I dont belabor it for more then a minute so I dont harm the metal.

I only use this on the bottom of the buckle on the polished part,, thats it.
