how to tell if anniversary is real

evening everyone,

any advice on how to tell a true 16610 anniversary from one with a simple green insert?

Thanks.

Aside from the large plot dial, hands, and green insert, all 16610's are identical.

If somebody took the trouble to change those things, there is no way to know unless you have the original paperwork with it.

Larry, is there a 16610V model stamp between the lugs?

EDIT:

I just found a couple anniversary 16610LV Subs here on TRF and the lug stamping is 16610T, which is the same as found on non-anniversary Subs.

So, in answer to your question Justin regarding our conversation today, I would suspect that if someone happened upon a green bezel insert, an LV dial and LV hand set, they could create an "anniversary LV" Sub.

All non lug cased watches will have the T all it stands for is non lug hole case. And all 16610LV are just normal 16610 with maxi dial, green insert and slightly wider hands, no other stamping on the case than a normal 16610..

As Larry mentioned the earlier ones with papers will have it noted as 16610LV, possibly along with the model hang tag.
The later ones with plastic warranty cards will have it noted as 16610LV on the card (my non-rehault Z has it marked on the card and the model number hang tag).
Last resort ROLEX should be able to confirm, if you have the serial number (later models have the serial on the rehault at 6 0'clock as well as the card)

I'm pretty sure it depends on USA versus ROW. I can't remember if my USA sourced LV says "LV" on the warranty. It does say "V" on the green hang tag though.

To a purist a true 50th anniversary is F serial 2004, flat 4 lime and the works.
If one is found with papers purchased from late 2003, with green Rolex tissue paper, that is like striking gold.
I personally like the engraved rehaut of later years, with several differences along the way.
Otherwise any 16610LV is the 50th anniversary model, with maxi dial and hands.

To some the 'F' is the one.

But I'm happy with my 'M'.

Any excuse for a pix.

Hi All,
Hi All,
I have an M series LV submariner M serial with engraved Rehault. USA sold. Can the warranty card have only 16610V not 16610 LV as mine and be correct?

Regards,
M

The warranty card does not specify LV only the hang tag does. It says 16610V so yes yours is fine and correct.

Have to say this model is the new object of my desire. Love the green bezel and black face combination. For me it's better than the LVc

Well - they both do: Warranty card = "V" and hang tag = "LV". So for this model; papers are important.
