15300 quality of polishing?

I'm looking for a good quality AP 15300, black dial and tried on this one. My concern is that I feel the case polishing has lost its sharp detailing.

I'd be really keen to get other people thoughts.

Many thanks

Be careful of buying a used AP, those bevels are shot when polished. The watch goes from crispy to soft if those edges are gone. I'd rather buy an unpolished AP with scratches then a polished one.

Is that the watch in question? Post some more pics

Thanks. Unfortunately this is the only image i took. Frustratingly the 15300 is of course out of production, so pre owned is the only way to go.

APSC has specialty jigs for refinishing while retaining angles and bevels. I suspect they could improve on that case, but I've no idea if it would be "enough." I'd pass.

I would be careful as well. For a relatively modern watch, I would suggest you hold out and find an untouched example or you can send it to the APSC for a refinish.

If you feel it's overpolished from handling then pass. You'll know when you have a good one.

this

you are going to need some side shots specifically of the edges to get any sort of meaningful feedback though.

Pic from the top can be deceiving as the edges could be reflecting the light and still sharp or polished down

The top of the bezel looks ok though. Usually the first sign of a over polish is the screw heads are not recessed and start to become flush or end up slightly above the bezel surface.

Sooo many watches ruined by polishing. This one isn't ruined, but definitely is polished, bit too much for me, but probably fine for most.

I would never polish mine. Scratches is part of life.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm leaning towards a 15450 to avoid over polishing issues.

I would either pay / get a pristine one...or, if you find one in good shape - send it to Clearwater and it will come back refinished correctly!

If the bezel / case etc. are too far gone, they may want to replace them. That will not be cheap.
