Audemars to move down to 36mm-40mm???
With all these pushes to 40mm+ cases. When will it get old!?
Anyone think AP will reduce case sizes or keep what they have started? I wonder if they are soaking up the big case demand? Or will they adjust when tastes change? |

IWC has been making 43mm watches since the 1930's when they first introduced the Portuguese, so larger cases isn't a trend, they have been around in some form or other for a while. The availability of larger watches has gone through at least 3 generations of watch buyers.
Just because they say its a "trend" doesn't make it true. Its just a way to make it seem that large watches are "less than" their 36mm DD and to make it seem as though people who wear larger watches have less credibility because they are wearing a "fashion piece" which is ridiculous. People who criticize large watches are no different than overweight people who get mad when they see that a skinny person can eat 3 ice-cream cones and not gain an ounce. |

I'd actually prefer a 15400 in a 40mm instead of the current 41. The 41 fits me but just barely.

I know what you mean, but I don't think anyone is looking down on large watches. Nor should anyone who owns a larger watch feel they are following a trend. It's all personal preference |

It drives me crazy. I still like smaller watches, some quite a lot, even if i don't wear them. Generally those who don't wear large watches hate them. |

I am fine from 39 to 44, though my biggest is ROO 42, but by many standards it's like a 44 from many brands. Even if brands were going tomdownsize their watches, I never cared about following fashion, won't stop me from wearing my diver if everyone is wearing 36mm watches, but don't think that will happen, the large segment is here to stay, even if like was said it was always present at one point or another

I truly hope not. I like bigger watches - I don't know why but I just do. I've recently acquired a 41mm AP but that's as small as I'd go and I wouldn't give a 36 wrist time at all.

I find 38-42 to be my sweet spot (the former reserved for dressier pieces) but can also wear up 44. I have no issue with the 'larger' watches however I do think anything over 44 will eventually be considered a fad. It's just too much. My wrist is right at about 7in for reference.
More pertinent to the OP's original statement though, I DO wish the RO would drop back down to 39. The 15400 (at least in white face) is too big IMO, too much space, and looks not as clean as the 15300 did. |

I don't have anything against larger watches or the people who enjoy them. :-) I'd be much more likely to own a ROO if they made a 40mm; even the 42mm version wears pretty large.
AP's more traditional styled watches are sized in line with their competition. The RO comes in < 40mm sizes. So, we're really just talking about the ROO. I don't expect to see them at 36mm or 40mm any time soon. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

That's why you buy a 15202 or 15450. They already have 3 sizes of RO. How many more do they need? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I really like the sub at 40mm though, so perhaps that what makes me feel odd about the 15400. I don't want a 'dressy' piece that wears bigger than a casual, do everything piece. |

I actually think AP is doing a great job with the sizes of their watches. It covers the general range and flavour for all.
Men sizes: 37mm, 39mm, 41mm, 42mm, 44mm (RO to ROO). I don't think there is a need for 40mm (it honestly makes no difference on a 40mm between the 41mm or 39mm). I also think AP did a good job to highlight the "original" ultra-thin jumbo at 39mm and creating the gap and choice for either a small 37mm or the larger 41mm. Creating a 40mm in what would be a new 15400 and more affordable version than the Jumbo will only confuse and deviate the buyers away from the 15202. |

I fully agree as to the RO - there's a 37, 39, and 41 mm version, so I think we're covered.
The 39 Jumbo is the premium dress watch, and the 37/41 are the standard sport models. |

Absolutely right. There are more sizes of RO to choose from than some other brands offer. I, for one, appreciate AP's diversity of options.

ROOs will obviously be over 40mm, but plenty of ROs and JAs are in that range, AP caters well to them.

I think the 15400 at 40.5mm would be SPOT on honestly...

I have a 7.5" wrist, and find AP's 42mm size to be PERFECT.
By contrast; I find AP's 44mm size far too large, and Rolex's classic 40.5mm size FARR too small, and hate wearing them! |

Just taste and perspective, at 7,5" you could wear without problems a 44, even with my 7 it looks big but fine in that style
