Do you count your Rolex as part of your NET WORTH?
When you sit down and count up how much $$ you have do you count your Rolex?
If you do, what value do you use? liquidation price? Retail? should be a fun thread Here is what i do i value my 116523 M series at 9K and and my 116710 M series at 6K it makes me feel like im worth more than i really am, I am pretty sure i can sell them for pretty close to those numbers if i needed to I do not count any other jewelery or watched in my networth but since rolex's keep their value so well i do also it helps me justify my purchased, come on is there a reason a 28 year old should have 3 rolex watches |

I don't but it's good to know that I can get money for them if I ever need to.

Never even thought to include them in my net worth. I think I would be in trouble if it came to that.

Don't count my watches or any other toys.
Matter of fact I "DEDUCT" the value of a house from my networth. You have to live somewhere, so , knock of the value of a "reasonable" place to live. This type of equity is what gets people in a lot of trouble , thinking "I am worth XXX". Maybe should consider it the "realizeable Net Worth". Your investments, cash, second properties etc, that you can live ON, not IN. Just my opinion. My peeve is planning with people and they say, well when I retire I can sell my house. I say, yeah, true, but where are you going to live? Unless you severely downsize or move to a lower cost area, that equity doesn't do you much good as far as paying the bills.

sort of. Only if I end up wanting to flip them.
But they certainly look better than a number in the bank.

Not really, I'm not sure how much I could liquidate them for if I needed to, even having spent over $160k on them. I don't count my primary residence as part of my net worth either, I could sell it and have the money but then where would I live... I do count my art collections and other collectible items as part of my net worth, though.

Maybe you do if you're applying for a loan, but forget about them if it's a divorce proceeding.

Come to think of it, no, but it does make sense to count them in. I think of my watches as my liquid reserve fund :)

I've always considered net worth to be assets minus liabilities. Included in assets I add anything worth over $4000-$5000 and able to be sold (would include a Rolex if I had one).
