I'm wondering if I can steal this watch from her and wear it. Is this model considered unisex?

Daytona is a men's watch, but that doesn't stop women from wearing them. Also one could argue that very few Daytona models might be more feminine in nature than others.

Personally, I do like the watch you have pictured above, however with the black dial. Too much RG for my taste. Of course all of this is subjective and depends on what catches your eye the most.

I do not see why you wouldn't be able to wear this watch as well if you do indeed buy it for her.

Thanks Ara, yea I figured the Daytona was originally a men's watch. But nowadays I see many women wearing them.
My wife, of course, chose the rose gold dial (more bling I suppose). I'm with you - I'd rather wear the black dial.
The 116515 is still my favorite but it'll have to wait until after my wife's purchase.

She tried it on a couple months ago and her decision was made...

I think you should look at a white gold panda with red hands and another with the meteorite dial before deciding. These aren't mine , but images I lifted.

This is an insightful post. Well stated. I concur.

You have a great collection and to the masses a Rolex may seem cliche but to true watch lovers and collectors a Rolex has a special place.

You seem not be or want to be part of the "herd" but if you sit down with a Rolex and look at it with a careful eye and appreciate a genuine mechanical marvel I'm sure a Rolex will earn it's place in your collection.

Good luck.

Don't dismiss the meteorite, which is from Gibeon meteor and is about 4 billion years old, just a bit younger than the earth itself, and slices that are fit for jewelry are very rare.

The meteor dial in itself is nice and has interesting physical attributes, but I didn't like it when I tried one on. Hard to see the subdials. Basically, everything just blends into the dial.

My vote is for the white dial Panada! Hard to make a poor decision.

(I'm bummed I couldn't make it out to run Spring Mountian this weekend with you guys! Have fun!)

Aw Woody, bring the beast out!!! Are you going on the drive Yaphet is organizing?
We need to set up a meet again soon - whether cars or watches.

I can't decide between the Panda or the Meteorite dial...guess I have to try them on. Anyone know where to view one? - wouldn't seem like dealers regularly carry these in stock. I'm in SoCal.

Interesting history...so it looks like Steve McQueen never actually wore the Explorer 1655 - wonder how this model was named as such. Seems his daily Rolex was a Sub 5512.

I've been looking for a Heuer Monaco 1133b for a few months now.

Yes and yes...I'm doing Yaphet's run; we'd love to hear any one of your toys echoing off the canyon walls.

Right now, I'm just fighting my way back to Sunny California. I'm up in the air again the next two weeks, so I need a couple days home with the wife.

Please Recommend a First Rolex for me...

A quick update....my wife has 3 Rolexes and I still have none! The ones I like are a little out of budget...6263 or Platona.

Well here are some recent pieces picked up. Still would like a Rolex in the mix.

To me it sounds like you don't want a Rolex staple. If you want a rolex just to have a rolex i dont know what to tell you because thats a lot of money invested into something just for the name. The oyster bracelet is a huge branding product of Rolex and if you don't really like it maybe you should steer clear of Rolex and find a brand you TRULY like.
