AP Closed ?
I've been shopping for a new gray market 15400 ST Silver dial and they are a little hard to find at a good price. Some of the gray dealers and the AP Botique in Las Vegas told me that AP shuts down for a period in the summer and stops shipping out new watches. Can anyone elaborate on this? Maybe I'm a little confused.

A lot of European companies basically shut down in the summer for summer vacation. If you watch the hodinkee interview with the US AP CEO from Friday he talks about this. Essentially all watch makers are gone on vacation.

I have a 26331ST ROC on order and my AD said yes, there is lots of vacation this time of year. Europeans take 3-4 weeks consecutively and he said its hard to get anyone there due to that. I have not heard of any AD taking new deliveries from the factory during the summer. Everyone says "October" which is the date for mine. He did get the order in and spoke to them so it's definitely not a total shutdown but I suspect the factory itself is severely limited output.

Nothing strange at all. Rule is usually; if you want something done in Europe, plan to do so before end of June. If that doesn't work, come back end of August/beginning of September.
Cheers, Joe

Pretty standard. I know most Germans are unlike Americans, in the sense that they like to stack their vacation instead of spread it out. I know people who take their entire 28 days in the summer, from about mid July to near end of August. It's like a mini retirement taking a solid 6 weeks off from work

In London there is not a single 41mm RO in steel. All the dealers stating that they won't receive anymore until the autumn.

Think AP here are pretty much shut down until Sep, told me to order a strap then rather than now.

now I'm worried about when my RG 44 will be done. I was there on the 7th to pick up my diver and 15400 from pressure testing and they said the RG was supposed to be in on the 22nd of Aug. If they are all on holiday in Switzerland Im starting to doubt that statement.

Maybe the date I ordered was too late and meant it wouldnt get processed until they reopen hence the September eta, also I did think the reopen date was late August so ties in with that date. Don't forget with 'out of stock' items like straps and buckles they typically quote 4 weeks. |

Its a hard concept to grasp but productivity does increase if you work less in many cases. The same is true of those who work four shifts of 10 hours per week vs those who work five shifts of 8 hours. The four day a week workers get more done in the same amount of time. |
