Sub ND 14060M/93150 versus side airbags...

First, let me start off by saying – everyone involved is okay, cars are things, watches are things – and things can be replaced.

With that being said – here’s what happened:

Other driver ran a red light and hit the front driver’s side fender of my car:

The other car:

I usually drive with my left arm resting near the driver’s side window. The car was equipped with curtain and side airbags – both deployed upon impact.

After I exited the vehicle and checked on the other driver – I realized my watch was no longer on my wrist. After a little searching, I found the watch on the passenger side rear seat.

The divers extension spring bar popped out from the clasp. I wasn’t able to find the spring bar:

And my left wrist the night of the accident:

I have to assume the damage to the clasp was a result of some combination of the impact and airbags. This was the only damage to the watch. The impact apparently broke the motor mounts, buckled the roof, and resulted in a total loss.

Thought I'd share how the 93150 did. The watch was serviced (though running totally within spec) and clasp was repaired.

Man, glad you are alright! I'm always on my wife about putting her feet on the dash on long trips. I'm always trying to be aware of what could happen in a crash and this includes loose items in my car.

Ouch, looks painful. The clasp should be easily replaced and likely can even be bent back into shape. I hope your injuries heal quickly.

Wow! So glad it impacted there and not further back and that everyone was okay. Great testimony to the durability of Rolex!

Glad you are fine, if the watch ended on the passanger rear side of the car you were lucky didn't hit you in your face or body on its flight trajectory.

The Sub did better than the car!

I'm very glad to know you are well. It's dangerous out there.

I've always thought that the pin on the extension link could snap out of place rather easily. The solution for not having holes on the sides of the clasp seems flimsy to me.

Again, I'm pleased to know that you are well, and hope those scratches heal soon.

Yikes. Glad you are ok. Just goes to show how really violent a car crash really is.

This clasp does have holes on the sides...?

Not sure I would categorize it as "rather easily..."
