zenith el primero tri color 1969 - 38mm or 42mm??

Hi guys. I am thinking about picking up this model. Can someone tell me if 38mm or 42mm is more popular? My wrist can pull off both sizes I think. For when I get bored and resell down the road I should probably just pick the one that is more popular size.

You are already planning to sell a watch you've not yet bought? That's a brave strategy. The 1969 is 38mm, but wears bigger as it's all dial, minimal bezel.

Yes, I've tried that one on, but the "1969 Original" has much better proportions, being only 38mm, IMO. Less of a wrist-clock effect.

The 38mm can be wore more like a dress watch whereas the 42mm is more like a sporty watch. I went for the 42mm. I've had it for almost three years now and I really love it. It's my weekend go-to piece. You won't go wrong with either one.

Cheers,

I prefer the 38, but I guess it depends on your wrist size

I thought the 38 looked better than the 42, but ultimately the overlapping dials and unreadable date soured me. The date is smooshed so tight against the window, that I couldn't tell if it was the 1st or the 11th, without weirdly angling my wrist.

Gotta say, the seconds hand with star ruins it for me. Just a hair better than the "commander"

Another vote for the 38. Original proportions with a few. Irene tweaks.

Overlapping Sub dials are part of the deal.

Love mine.

Note - lugs at 19mm so you may be limited on off-the-shelf replacements.

Since you seem concerned about resale - WARNING these don't do well
- they're not Rolex after all.
