If you really need a count down timer, then go for it. I just dont think its practical function is even close to a date function and timing bezel.

Not a chance! The SD43 is my all time favorite Rolex after owning just about every sport model they make. I haven't owned any all PM models yet, but when it comes to SS, the SD43 is the one for me. Perhaps down the road if I ever pick up a PM my thoughts might change, but for now, I'd never do that trade. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,

J

I wouldn't do it but hey, your taste, your money.

A colleague showed me his YMII, steel and rose gold. There's a massive YACHT-MASTER II engraved on the bezel, pretty hard to miss. Big, colourful, very modern looking (as in not classic looking), He was given the watch by his parents as a gift, I haven't seen him wearing it for months, got to ask him why. Personally I've got the feeling Rolex went a little bit overboard with this one (pun intended).

The SD43 is big but sober and classic looking. Rolex tried something new but have not overdone it IMHO. Purists will disagree but to me it's a natural and welcome evolution of the emblematic SD.

You be got to follow your heart. Do you like evolutions or revolutions?

The YM II, which I have nicknamed the "Throckmorton," is not an attractive piece to me. I would keep the SD43.

Me? No. But then again I've got nothing to regatta.
