Hey guys,

Wondering if using 99% isopropyl alcohol to clean the gook off my case after removing the hologram would be ok?

Hi Flick,

I don't know what that stuff is like at cleaning gum off but the case is stainless steel and if it hurts it I would be very surprised.

A bit of ecualyptus oil,turps or even methalated spirits would do the job.

The big secret here is to use a small quantity on a rag and rub.No need for liberal baths in chemicals as soap and water will keep the rest of it clean.

I was gonna use a q-tip to clean it. Just dip it in the Iso and rub the green gook off.

Got a Wal-Mart where you live? Go there and get some "Goo-Gone". It is literally the best product for taking sticky crap off of things that I have ever used, with no damage and rinses off completely. I used it to get rid of ALL of the sticky stuff after removing the hologram stickers from my Rolexes.

I also sing the praises of Goo Gone. It's a great product, just use common sense.

It's available at a lot of retailers, not just WalMart.

Isopropyl is one of the safest solvents to use.
Solvent on Rag first, a little elbow grease and you are there.

Since I'm a doctor, I have a lot of alcohol and gauze in my office. So when I get some unknown body fluid on my crystal (only kidding) or any other debris, I just put a dab of alcohol on a soft piece of gauze and wipe the crystal and it shines it up nice and sparkling clean. And it kills the germs as well. And I don't want to walk around with coodies on my sub!!

If you're not sure of a chemical solvent, DON'T use it!! Why muck around with something you don't know anything about, when you've got good ole H2O, soap and a soft toothbrush on hand?

I got all the gunk, goo and hologram off my YM with soap, water and the brush....here are the superb results!!

Well, I ended using squirting some Softsoap hand soap into a tupperware container and feeling it with luke warm water. Seemed to clean everything nicely. Rinsed it with luke warm water and dried with lint free lens cloth.

Lol, yeah crazy huh. I'm already using my t-shirt to wipe the crystal off and I've only had it for 3 days.

The hologram is an original seal of guarantee from Rolex confirming authenticity of the watch and the fact that the watch is BRAND NEW!!! Remember a new hologram will always have the coronet pointing to '12'.

You will find many fakes with their "fake" holograms all over the place. Here's my genuine ones...

...and this is the BEST way to remove them!!
