Icon14 Chr WARD London 1915 - 2015 Centenary Royal Air Force Watch

On my flight from London to Miami yesterday I said hi to the Pilot and noticed his watch, Love the Blue.

I understand it is special and looked it up but could not find solid information. He was very proud of it and we took a photo together.

Anyone familiar with this limited edition watch?

It's a version of the Christopher Ward C7 Rapide Mk1: https://www.christopherward.co.uk/me.../c7_manual.pdf

They haven't made that model commercially for maybe four years, and it was replaced by the newer Mk2 version, which is itself possibly no longer in the current line-up.

I say it's a version, because Christopher Ward are quite well known for creating very small-run, bespokely designed models at the request of individual groups - popular with the Armed Forces for commemorative watches, such as in this instance for a particular RAF Squadron & past member.

That's why it looks different to the standard commercial C7 sold - with bespoke dial, bezel and engraving. Obviously, to make this a viable commercial offering, Christopher Ward need to use an existing or prior model base, with a minimum guaranteed advance order of 50 pieces.
