Glidelock....wooowheee. Someone please help me, I'm swooning over a massive clasp containing an over-engineered adjustment mechanism for my hyper-sensitive, swelly wrist. Now all someone has to do is invent a shoe with 47 eyelets per side so I can go through the day constantly adjusting my laces for a precise fit according to variations in temperature and humidity. That would be the best invention and most comfortable shoe ever until someone thinks of inventing one with 64 eyelets per side.
Wow, someone's got their Alan's in a twist. Someone pee in your Fruit Loops or something?

No. I don't buy into the hype of multi-colored cereals or eat them. They're a fad.

Want proof? Consider, General Mills launched Trix in 1954, the very same year Rolex launched the 6542 GMT Master with it's BLRO bakelite bezel. I'll leave it for you to decide if that's mere coincidence, but it's irrefutable that although the original Trix color combo did incorporate red Trix , the mixture did not include blue Trix. Therefore, fad.

Hats off to you sir. You said what every 5 digit tuna can clasp advocate was thinking, yet won't say.. In fact, I don't think I could have put it anywhere near as good myself. Well done.

One thing I am curious about is how anyone can think that a GMT can fit better than a Sub. The Glidelock with it's incremental adjustments is the best invention ever.
My friend, they are confused . How could anyone ever think it's nice to Yacht-Master written on the bezel, for instance. Look, the blnr is much nicer than the reg GMT. How could anyone spend all that money on a YG GMT before a YG WG Sub. How?! Mistakes happen my friend. We have all made them

I don’t feel the need to own the BLNR personally, but the black and blue bezel is a classic, wearable in almost any situation and the gmt complication is very practical

It's a classic in the making. A colour combination that makes perfect sense for the watch's function.

Black and dark grey would look good in a bezel.

Don't know about black & grey, but blue & grey looks really nice on the Squale 30 ATMOS Tropic Gmt Ceramic.

Indeed, I'd buy that - as for the BLNR, how can classic colors in a classic watch be a fad? Beyond me, even if I don't particularly like the black and blue contrast personally. I'm an LN owner from back when that was the only choice. So can't claim I chose that over the BLNR. No less happy with it though and the best is I get to have green lume to match my green hand.

Timeless or fad BLNR : GMT Master II

My SD4k is my best fitting Rolex then my Bluesy. My BLNR fits good also but the other 2 fit better.

Not a fad at all. If anything, it will be a classic. Honestly, very rarely do I see Rolexes as fads. But that's just my opinion.

GMTs are great, no matter. Not a fad. Probably the worst two-color bezel combo they've made as yet, but doesn't make it bad or a fad.

The unique blue & black combo will probably make it sought after in future when they quit making that one. I'm doubting folks will quit buying then Rolex stop making (that'd be a fad), it'll be the other way 'round.

Tourneau sales guy saying something to try to get you to buy what he has now.

Not a fad, but not for everyone.

Have you seen one in person? I had one saved for me, went to buy and didn't like it on. Bought the LN instead. BLNR photographs very well, but I found it a different story on the wrist. Certainly don't buy before you see it in person. Don't pay over retail.

And now you sound like you're just blindly attacking the sub instead of blindly supporting it. You apparently don't like it much yourself, but at this point it's just a fact that many, many people find the glidelock convenient and comfortable.

Personally, I wish it were shorter because I have a narrow wrist, but it's hard to argue against the comfort provided by a quick, easy way to adjust the bracelet length (that can simply be ignored if you don't need it). Not a lot of downsides to that.

The BLNR is a great piece, IMO and not a fad. Will be a continual winner in my book

BLNR is a classic color combo, past, current, and future. from PanAm to the color of the modern blue professional tennis courts. It is a regal color combo placed on the iconic pilot/travelers watch. Couple this with the perfect mechanical and functional solutions of the current model, attention to detail in materials, refinement in manufacturing and finishing, the BLNR is an instant classic now and for the foreseeable future, IMO

IMO a modern Rolex that's been this popular this long after introduction has proven itself a seat amongst classics. Don't think it's a fad.

Not a fad at all - the Pre ceramic ran three colour differences. Just personal taste. I didn't like the blnr on for some reason but love the LN (I am wearing as I type).

Try them both on. If you like the blue, go for it. If you like the black, then try to find a lightly used version or one from a trusted seller over there. They are great value given they are not as strong in the secondary market.
