Ceramic Daytona

Looking to purchase a white dial ceramic Daytona. I was thinking that since this watch has been out for a bit now it would be easier to get, but I called a few AD's and they are not even taking additional people for their lists.

What would be the best way to obtain this watch? I'm okay with waiting a bit but the few AD's I called aren't even taking names. I also looked around on Chrono 24 and saw a few for sale there. I'm okay with paying a bit of premium but I'm concerned counterfeits. Also how much is a fair markup going for these watches now?

You'll probably have to pay a 40-50% premium at this moment in time

If you are okay paying the premium that this model is commanding at the present time I would do that as that is going to be the quickest way you will get one. Give one of our trusted sellers on this forum a call and they can source one for you. If you want to pay MSRP, I recommend you keeping calling AD's until you find one that will add you to their list. Be prepared to wait a while. Good luck.

Unless you're a good customer, I'd forget about the AD route as you're pretty late to the party. If you're okay with paying a steep premium, then there are plenty on the grey market and trusted sellers here. DavidSW has one now, and his reputation is impeccable.

Exclusivity or not, feels like they are limiting supply.

Ironic that i love a GMT or sub much more.

I'm looking at DavidSW and the white dial is $1,900 more than the black dial. I'm in the market for the white dial, just my luck hah.

The white dial he has listed is new with stickers whereas the less expensive black dial is worn and withtot stickers. If DavidSW gets a white dial without stickers, it will be a bit less. Good luck with the hunt.

totally agree, why is a SD43 launch 2017 readily available and a Daytona launch 2016 still demanding silly waiting times.

My understanding is that the SS Daytona has always been harder to get than other SS models through normal channels.

True yes, I was on a waiting list for a white dial daytonna prior to the 2016 ceramic release

2 years I was on that list and I picked up 2 djs (1 and 2), 2 subs, and a GMT in that time

Not even a phone call from the AD in 4 years regarding the Daytona.

I didn't even like the Daytona I tried on (TT panda). Although I nearly bought it.

I'd buy the ceramic Daytona just because I think I neee to add one to my collection. 4 years wait now. Getting silly.


Without waffling on, I can't understand why rolex pedal this model and complication. It's not their crowning glory or heritage. It became popular in motorsport and of course Paul Newman. But chrono was added by all Tom dick and harry. Rolex to me are the makers of the worlds finest divers watches and timepieces designed with such precision and robustness that they can survive in the toughest conditions.

Well with respect to having so many other models readily available...and not a Daytona to be had for years...it's a little too Ironic...I really do think! Kinda like...having 10,000 spoons, when all you need us a knife...ironic!!!

My opinion is it's 50% over retail. You have nothing to worry about dealing with David except perhaps paying way too much for that watch.

I'm sure others will chime in but I hear that Tony has a similar reputation to David.

I'm under the impression that in order to get this watch you have to pay 40 to 50 percent over msrp on it. Unless you're on a AD list or something.
