It is not often that I venture into this side of the forum. I came across your thread today. Sorry for your loss. My wife lost her mother to the same type of cancer last year, so the pain you are going through is very fresh for us as well.

There are a lot of good advice in the thread by people a lot more profound than I can ever be. I am just here to say I am sorry for your loss and with time, the pain will not feel as enormous as it does now. Hang in there.

Hello Nick

I am sorry to hear about your lose. My mom was diagnosed with the same cancer three years ago and it was quick for her to lose her battle. I know what you are feeling and going through. I found it helps talking to friends

My condolences

Thank you again everyone. This is a difficult time. It's one week today that my father was taken from us by cancer. It's not getting any easier, I do realize it will be a long and painful change for myself brother and mother. Yesterday was the funeral, the service was beautiful and the priest who held the mass at the church said he has never seen a crowd like this before, unprecedented according to him. It was incredibly emotional to see the never ending line during the communion, old and young with children. My father touched along of souls in his life. It was incredible to see and feel. I just wish there was some way I could have told him to see the people who came, how respected he was. We, my family, are now back to reality. Meaning, the outpouring of family who flew in is no longer, they are all gone. This is surreal at times, like I don't want to believe it. Anyway, it is what it is.

So very sorry for your loss Nicholas. My condolences to you and your family. My brother lost his wife 9 years ago to cancer at the age of 48.. cancer definitely sucks. I know too many people who were taken by this terrible disease.

Nick, Im late reading this but I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. My only way of dealing with this kind of grief is that I want to make them proud of me as they look down on me. My sincere condolences to you, your boys, and the rest of your family.

Only ten days ago I called an ambulance to my parents home and then the cancer decided to give him massive blood clots which then caused two strokes in his brain stem. It was all but over since then. I never thought it was this ugly, it was a long ten days of slow painful death, it was awful to witness day and night.

My father was well respected in his community and business community. He was successful and popular and touched everyone's soul who net him. I learned how to be a good person, good father and good husband. My work ethic was installed by him. I am in a shock and daze, I can't believe he is gone. I know this was going to happen at one point when he was diagnosed 18 months ago. I am worried for my mother as her soul mate of 48yrs is gone. My heart aches for my kids 9 and 7, especially the older one who cried earlier this morning. He is named after his grandfather.

I hope I didn't waste anyone's time by reading this post, but if any of you have any sensible advice how to cope, please let me know. Thank you all

Nick..I do empathise with your feeling and the lost of your father. Me too have such heartache when i lost my beloved sister who was just 53 yrs( after 6 yrs of treatment--lung cancer) in May this year. I am still greving till this day. Sorry I cannot advise you as I am also in such dilema...take this as my consolation to you...and i can only say..just remember all the beautiful memory about him. I am in Singapore.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers for you and your family.

I lost my father almost 3 years ago. He was hospitalized, we thought it's just a non serious illness. At the hospital he was diagnosed with liver cancer. He passed away in his sleep about three weeks after the diagnose.
