I assume it all depends on how the tax authority considers a grey watch. Technically its used/pre-owned as you are not the first owner and it has been used or partly used while in the EU.

Ask them before you buy, because you need a special receipt in order to claim the tax back and not all dealers can supply this.

Most grey ADs in UK do not offer VAT back due to the way they purchased the watch originally

Thanks guys for the information. Other than UK, does anyone know how it works I. France Swiss or Italy? Does anyone have any reputable non AD dealers to recommend? Thanks in advance!

Ive never come across any grey dealer that gives a vat refund.
I think this is part of the way they have a margin for the massive discount on them as it would have already been reclaimed one way or another. |

No. VAT ends once the watch has been in private hands. And I've never heard about a grey offering VAT refunds.

Watchfinder in the UK definitely do not. I asked them a couple of years ago.
