How Pickpockets Do It Forewornd is Forearmed

I read about Robby losing his treasured 5512 to pickpockets and thought I'd post this Youtube video showing how they do it. Recognizing the pickpockets methodology and techniques puts you one step ahead of a potential assailant. Be careful out there..

I would like to see him do it with an Oyster bracelet as well. I can see it with the nato or other band types, unless they have a deployment clasp.

First thing that comes to mind is the scene in casino when the thief gets his hand smashed with a hammer

The guy in the video is the scum of the earth

Indeed pickpockets, child rapists, and those that commit genocide the absolute worst.

Don't forget people who don't use their turn signals or talk during movies.

Exactly. Any metal bracelet with a flip lock style Sub clasp. The watch can't be removed unless slipped over the large part of your hand. Just don't let anyone invade your personal space.

If you think you are safe in an oyster bracelet then think again.

I've learnt to be wary. Paris, Venice, HK and BKK have many low skilled pickpockets. But also a small number of expert pickpockets with skills similar to those shown by the magician in this video.

The level of expertise of some of those pickpockets is superhuman. It is not just their slight of hand skills, but how they use the environment and how they read and distract the attention of their mark.

Have you ever been distracted by a loud argument in a taxi queue? Tried to get your order in at a market stall while people are jumping the queue around you? Been bustled by the crowd at some busy tourist attraction? Or zoned out at a night club with a few drinks under your belt?

Statistically you are unlikely to encounter a seriously skilled pickpocket. But they are out there. And maintaining situational awareness is your best defence.

You got me think again there, cause I always thought that bracelet is safer than strap. Did it happen to you?
