It's not cheating anything, it's physics.
Gravity (and temperature) will affect how any mechanical movements balance swings; it is not specific to only Rolex. How much it is affected will be a characteristic of the particular movement, with most modern movements showing very little variance due to the use of larger springs and better tolerances.
