I agree, no discount makes a dealer doing that worth it to me.

Something is shady

I'm confused. Isn't a new watch supposed to have warranty? Brand new meaning unregistered, meaning date of sale is still undated, meaning purchase date of 11/2017 would grant full 5 years warranty. It's not date received by AD that is on the warranty card.

If they can't give you a warranty card on a brand new item with you as the first owner, then you are probably not the first owner.

For me it is not about the discount it is about the AD not shooting straight. I have never heard this and I don't believe it to be true. I would look at the watch again, all stickers etc. I would ask to see the warranty card. box and papers. If they could produce all of the above I would then say I would take the watch at the 29% offered off. My bet would be they will not show you a card because they do not have it or it is filled out. Anything other than the card and I would ask for the manager and confront them about it. See what they say. If not happy with the response, tell them you are walking and you will report them to Rolex, BBB and review them on social media platforms. Should be enough to get the truth. Good luck.

if you like the watch (and the 30% off is just cherry)..I get it...wear it and chances are you won't need the warranty in 5 years...if you do..it still cheaper...
unless you are looking to flip it...then I would pass

Update

So here’s my update.... talked to Rolex and they said there isn’t such a thing and agreed to everything that was said here (thank you)
I went the AD today, saw the watch and it’s ckearly not new with none of the stickers on it, a couple of scratches on the clasp no tag and no warranty card
They had the nerve to tell me the same story but I asked to so am with the manager and shared with them what I learned from Rolex USA

The apologized and asked how to make me happy. Offered the DJ41 for 17% off and even went in the vault and got out a Sea Dweller Deepsea blue and a black 44mm

Thank you All for saving me from that trap!
I guess I caught the Rolex bug and am going too fast. I need to slow down

Btw I picked both sea dwellers :) will be posting pics on a separate thread

The serial num on the card should match exactly with the serial on the rehaut at the 6 o’clock position.

I would seriously doubt the source of that watch. Sounds like AD is doing something they don’t want Rolex to find out about.

I wouldn't do business with that dealer. They sound too bogus.

OP: Glad you posted your question here and got the correct answers and took the AD to task on it.

Years ago when an AD went out of business, he was offering his Rolexes. at a significant discount. Rolex had pulled some and left others. I jumped in and bought two. I called Rolex NY to question the warranty issue. They said as long as it was purchased from an AD they would honor it. I fail to understand what your AD said. It makes no sense. His selling at a discount violates Rolex policy despite how often it is done. I can only surmise that it was a return.
As for his 5 year warranty, it is only as good as he is.

So you supported an AD that was dishonest and tried to sell you a used watch as new?
Makes me wonder why someone would want to deal with this type of AD.
