I lived on Oahu for 25 years before moving to the "mainland." Echoing what many others have said, 9 days in Waikiki is probably too long. Two or three there, and maybe one or two on another resort on the island (Turtle Bay on the North Shore or Ko'olina on the west side) would make more sense. Combined with an interisland hop or two to see more of the islands. Outside of that, I'd say that Yelp is highly reliable in Hawaii for accurate ratings of restaurants and there's actually a surprisingly strong restaurant scene on Oahu...and of course, the best poke in the world.
