Hello TRF. New Member and Intro.
Hi TRF,
Sorry for the longish post. New member here and my first post. I didn’t find this great community until very recently. I have been trying my best to read as much as I can...but most of my time ended up in the forsale sections:) A quick and brief intro about myself and my Rolex/watch journey up til present. I am in my mid 40s and a tech executive in a tech company. I have always been happy wearing my Casios, Seikos, and Citizens as my every day watch and still am but have a few nicer watches to go with the them now. My wife bought me my first Rolex about 4 years ago, a pre-owned DateJust 16234 from our jeweler who is also a Rolex AD. I have really enjoyed this watch. The following year we bought a pre-owned SD 16600 Y serial which was a trade-in at this same store. Fast forward 2 years, I have bought 2 brand new rolexes from the same store a couple weeks ago. I wanted an everyday work watch that fits into my work environment. Something low key, not too flashy, not too big, not too sporty that I can wear every day to work in a business casual setting with mostly engineers. I was contemplating a Datejust 116200 36mm white stick dial oyster bracelet, a Milgauss Z blue dial, a 39mm Explorer, or a 39mm OP blue dial. Ultimately, the blue dial of the OP won me over. Still can’t get my mind off the other 3 options though. While I was at the store, I decided to take a look at the SubC 114060 as I have been thinking pretty hard about a 14060M lately. Considering how the 14060M prices have gone lately, I ended up not passing up a brand new 114060 with a reasonable discount at the same time I bought the OP. I wore the 114060 almost 24x7 the entire last week at the beach with my family. I gotta say, I used the glidelock clasp feature for adjustments at a minimum once a day during the week due to the weather fluctuating. I am now a huge fan of the glide lock feature! I have really found a passion for watches and will slowly build up my collection. I am still thinking hard on a 14060M but the glidelock feature of the 114060 has tampered the urgency quite abit even though I feel that the 114060 wears a bit big for my 7.25” wrist. The lugs on either side of my wrist are extending off the side of my wrist. On the Rolex front, I will probably over time add a pre-ceramic sub and maybe an all gold DD or GMT or Daytona at some point in the future. Also thinking about an omega moonwatch because I like how it looks on me when I tried it on. On the dressier side of things, I really like JLC Reverso Grand Date/Master Control Date/MUT moonphase/Master Geographic but haven't decided which one I like the most. I also really really like the look of Patek Philippe 5296G as a simple and elegant dress watch but quite a bit more money. Any recommendations on a good gmt/dual-time watch that is somewhat low key and work well for the traveling part of business travel as well as flexible enough to dress up with suit or dresspants/shirt/blazer for business meetings during those trips? Any thoughts/suggestion/feedback on next pieces from here to build out my collection? Thanks in advance! |

Welcome! Looks like you got a nice collection growing....let me be one of the first to warn you that you've found a very dangerous place here, haha! We're a bunch of enablers, :)
But as you have already discovered, there is a WEALTH of information here and I myself have learned so much in just a few years reading and reading through various posts. I'm also in tech so welcome from a fellow "tech buddy". Looks like you got the wrist shot thing down pretty well so you're going to fit in just nicely! WELCOME.

Welcome to TRF! Nice group you have there!
To answer your question, my current favorite GMT pieces are the following: - 116710 in any flavor; - PAM 233; - Patek 5164. |

Welcome to the forum, you've already been busy without any enabling from here!
For a GMT I'd suggest a 16710 and get all three inserts for versatility |
