Daddy I want steak...says my 5 year old for 2 weeks straight

Finally going to appease him today. Starting off with a whole small side of New York Strip.

Cut it down to some manageable pieces

The UPS guy showed up with these as I'm letting them get room tempature, it's already going to be a good night

55,000 BTUs on the grill set to somewhere just under 650*, two minutes each side, 1 minute for each grill mark. Lost all my arm hair when I opened the hood. :(

Resting

Just the way he likes it, just waiting for him to get home now from school.

Will post his reaction once he gets home.

Don't let him drink more then one of the two wine bottles.

He will have a severe hangover in school tomorrow.

That steak looks amazing. BTW, what kind of BBQ is that? Love the stainless grates.

It's a very old CharmGlow, a Home Depot store brand. I forgot who it's made by but they don't make anything close to this model anymore.

I ate the first one, made him a second one that had cooled by the time he got home. School is 150 yards away so short walk.

I bought a replacement for it 18 months ago, it's sitting right next to it unused still lol. I can't bring myself to retire it yet.

Bought the steak at Costco, $8.49 a lb for prime NY although if you ask me it looks and tastes like choice. Still a great price for steak in CA.

My daughters will only eat filet mignon. NY Strip or Ribeye? Nope.

My wife was like that when I met her. I introduced her to prime meat and also dry aged steaks. Now she'll eat most any cut as long as some effort has been put into making it taste great. My wallet sure does miss those good old days of when she didn't know any better but I'm glad we can go into a steak restaurant now and she doesn't order the chicken anymore.

That is funny because while I appreciate a really nice dry aged ribeye, I’m happy with a prime filet. My wife on the other hand doesn’t like any steak that doesn’t include a bone

I was beginning to think I had the only 5 year old with expensive tastes. Though we don't eat there, my boy walks around reciting, "Arby's, we have the meat." Why can't our kids eat mac n cheese like every other kid?
