Unless she has manhands, a DateJust or a no-date Sub will be great. Would let her choose the model though - would be horrible to receive a watch one does not like.

The smaller 26mm DJ are beautiful and feminine. The 36mm DJ is what I would call a sweet spot for the modern woman. 40mm 5-digit sub or GMT is ultra-cool for a woman. 40mm 6-digit is pretty huge for a woman, and I think looks too big.

If you look at the Rolex site the 36mm DD is now being shown for woman.

She definitely needs to try it on. I have the ladies’ size Yachtmaster (29 mm) which is perfect for me. I have tried on my husband’s Sub and his 16710 GMT. Both look out of proportion for me.

That being said I think the 36 mm DJ is nice as is anything in rose gold.

I have tiny wrists and I can easily pull off the 41, it looks so much better than my smaller ones.

This is my wife at the beach on Saturday with her Turn-O-Graph (116264). She really loves the watch and it's not a model you see very often.

This came up today when we were in the AD, snapping up a Z-Blue which was in the window and my feet automatically walked me in the door!

The salesman let my wife have a go on his Tudor Black Bay 58, which as well as being a really nice watch, was reasonably close to a Sub 114060 in size and shape. Looked good. Nice size, OK to wear a bit lose, but too thick and heavy. We nearly went for an OP 39 Grape but she wasn't 100% sure. Back home, I dug out my Speedmaster X33 which I don't wear any more. Or at least haven't wanted to wear for some months. She loves it. 45mm, wears more like a 40-42mm, doesn't need winding, has a perpetual calendar and is light. I'll be glad to see it getting some daily use.

A cheapskate result as far as the bank balance is concerned, but it looks so right on her that it's obviously the right watch for her. For now.

Did you mean to say Tudor Black Bay 58?

If so that must be the first one in the wild.

Did you take any photos?

Any man that attempts to answer this question with anything other “they all look great on you” or “which do you like best dear” has not been married for 36 years.

On something like this, ALWAYS let her decide.

As a woman wearing Rolex for the past 30 years, I'd say any form of Daytona (see pics of me wearing my RG) and Submariner 5 digit, with or without date
