Do we have any travel agents on TRF? ARE there still Travel agents?

All my travel has been done by my company the last 10+ years, but I have to make some for travel before the end of the year but am clueless I have status on my airline but am not finding what I need (long story). If any TRFer can help me I’ll gladly pay the fee, but it’s worth it to me to do this right.

Oh, BTW, the reason I asked if there are still travel agents is I looked on the internet to try and find one, all I saw was ads for Priceline, cheap flights, Expedia blah blah blah. I need someone that knows the ins and outs of air travel and help me with a unique situation.

Hey Paul
Triple A... AAA Travel Club. They still have agents.
I am a member for years, very helpful.

Paul, go on Yelp, Travel Agencies, San Diego. There are dozens listed with reviews. Bon Voyage.

Be careful with travel agencies if you value your airline status. In many cases bulk tickets (IE travel agent issued) won't count toward spend requirements for maintaining status. Unless they changed it recently, im not sure. My wife travels a lot for work and used to fly american carriers quite a bit (flies BA now), but she would always end the year with zero dollars in airline spend and didn't get status when they changed the system to include spend requirement in addition to miles/segments.

Wish that I could help you Paul, but unfortunately my travel agent retired and now sells typewriters.

Very similar, I just need about two thousand miles to complete my executive Platinum status this year, you would think it would be an easy in and out to DFW or ORD for a couple hundred bucks. I can’t find anything for less then $899. Add a hotel for an over night and I am paying a grand. I heard there are secrets like staying over a Saturday night, checking first think in the morning for that day if they have in sold seats, chanting, facing East, whatever. I need someone who knows these secrets to help me get a deal done.

I am not surprised, from what I have learned Travel Agents are going the way of phone booths.

Costco has a travel agency and membership is cheap. You can also get great deals on rental cars. I used them exclusively.

If you have an American Express Platinum card they may be able to help you. Might give them a try if you do.

I haven't used them yet either. I might give them a try next time I book a trip.

Mrs. Rockrolex was a travel agent until she retired about 10 years ago. The agency she was with is still in business. It's called The Travel Place and is currently located in Potomac, MD.

I have heard that squishing unicorn droppings between your toes will conjure low fare tickets.

Good luck Paul. Safe travels, once you find the way.
