Gear stick (stick shift)

Is this the wrongest gear stick ever or is there a problem with Ruud’s head?

It seems to be a bit of overkill for an automatic transmission.

I do believe that rally cars use these for manual transmissions, though.

Whatever, if it does it for you, then more power to you.

I’m actually out and about today. We run a course every quarter for young lawyers and claims handlers in the marine industry; we give them a series of lectures and try and take them to local ports, ship simulators, the MPA vessel traffic service tower and a ship visit. This is the gear shift in our mini bus, which is the organised transport for the two days. I wouldn’t have a shift like that in any vehicle of mine, ever.

And what's that little blue rubber hand just inside the steering wheel?

That just seems dangerous and a bit unnecessary but to each his own.

I think it’s a rest for the heel of the hand. I’ll ask the driver when we get back in after lunch.

I had a friend once that put a beer tap handle on his car. Pretty cool actually.

I’d probably laugh my arse off every time I looked at that thing, especially under acceleration. I’m easily amused though.
