Rolex GMT Master II 116710LN
Hi everone,
I am a first time Rolex Shopper and in doubt between choosing the Submariner Dated (116610LN) or the GMT Master II (116710LN). Sound like the GMT looks bigger on your wrist because of the size of the number on the bezel. I need your professionsal opinion about the model that I have to choose. |

If you are a fan of the PCL, then the GMT Master II is a well balanced watch that is beautiful on the wrist. My OCD wont let it sing to me, however, I will say that I do think it dresses up better than the Sub C. If its me, I roll with the icon....Sub C!

Have you heard anything about the different sizing between the SUB and GMT?

Firstly, can I just say that whichever watch you end up choosing, it must be YOUR decision. Please for one moment don't ever choose a watch just because some other random stranger you never met said something about it to put you off! Obviously, by all means listen carefully to all the different opinions, but your end statement concerned me a little as you say 'the one I HAVE to choose' No mate - you don't HAVE to get the one people here say, it has to be 100% your decision. So, back to your original question... Personally, I prefer the Submariner date. Partly because I don't travel enough to warrant the GMT function and partly because I love the history of the dive watch and how it's evolved over the years to become what it is today. Remember, that's just MY opinion, it doesn't mean it is better or worse than the GMT it's just what I personally prefer. Good luck Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

The best way to decide is to go to a dealer and try them both on.
Before I bought my watch I wanted a Submariner all along. Love how the it looked in the case and how it just was so classic and iconic. Went to the dealer and tried it on and in the end it wasn't as appealing to me. It was to thick and sat high on my wrist and at the time I wasn't in love with it. Tried on a GMT also and loved how the thinner case back fit me better. So after trying them on my decision was made. Everybody has their own choices and opinions on what watches they like and why. It is all personal preference. I love my GMT as do many other people, but then again as many people don't like the GMT. Some say the dial is too busy. |

I have a small wrist so the GMT will be my pick if it fits better on my wrist.

Thinner case back on the GMT lets the watch sit flatter on the wrist and is more comfortable. The bezel is more "noisey" and I actually prefer the sub bezel numerals. Had a sub, sold it and own a GMT now.

Does the GMT look bigger on your wrist compared to the SUB?

Welcome to forum! Perfect advice. Go try on the watch(es) that tickle your fancy and compare. Do this on several occasions to prevent an emotional decision based on your mood for the day. It is your $$ and you should buy what meets your needs or simply what you like best. My opinion is just that...my opinion. You have to wear the watch everyday and should love it each time you put it on. Happy shopping! |

The GMT looks smaller (not bigger) - both identical case sizes but the GMT bezel gives illusion it’s smaller than the Sub IMO. Also, with Easylink rather than Glidelock the watch itself IS smaller, and lighter. Try them both on you’ll see what I mean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Much smaller clasp because it’s hiding less hardware. It’s what always stops me in my tracks on Subs. Essentially i have use for a second time zone but never put a wetsuit on.

I prefer the GMT because I find the detail on the bezel to be more interesting, it has that “pop”. Good luck

The GMT lugs are slightly thinned down from that of the Sub as well, giving the GMT a less ‘square’ appearance. Also the GMT case back is a technically thinner but you need a digital calliper to measure the difference in all honesty.
Essentially the GMT wears slightly thinner on the wrist, looks less square because of the more tapered lugs, has an additional complication I for one can’t be without and has a more interesting bezel, to my eye at least. Their both great watches. I use the GMT function of my watch all the time as I change time zones frequently. The GMT Master is so good I possess 5 in my collection. I have no Submariners. You won’t go wrong with either. |

The difference in size and how it's going to look on your wrist is minuscule.
The differences that I would be thinking about are PCL v. brushed links, glide lock v. easy link clasp, and diver's bezel v. 24 hr. bezel. FWIW, I have smaller wrists and have always found the GMT to be one of the most comfortable wearing watches out there. But...there's just something about a sub. |

Not a fan of the GMTC so I’d say Sub. You can’t go wrong.

As a third option taking size into consideration. I would suggest the Yachtmaster. But like others have said, go try them on. Welcome!!

You can’t go wrong with either. I have been in your shoes off the last several months. I just decided on the 116710 GMT. I love it. The GMT has always been my favorite, but I was torn between the GMT, Sub C and Explorer II. I had numerous opinions on which people thought was the better choice. I ended up with GMT. You will know which is the best fit for you. Go with the one you keep going back to and looking at and thinking about. Best of luck
