alternative to RSC??

With the problems mentioned in various threads here, about RSC cost and occasional QC failures, are there any private watch repair service experts that have consistent excellent work record at fair or reasonable prices? I've looked into Mark Sirianni and Kelly Haynes for repair, as well as Gray&Sons and Michael Young for bracelet restoration.

Any feedback on them, and are there others of quality and reliability? I have an old GMT II two tone that needs overhaul and has a stretched bracelet.

Contact our own Vanessa. She's done work for quite a few members, myself included. She has a family member's watch now

Out of the thousands of watches that go through the RSC Service Centers, the few that get posted here are decidedly the exception. We have just as many horror stories about independents who do not have proper parts accounts, do poor case refinishing, don't fully disassemble the movement, or charge for what is included with RSC pricing.

Look through the threads on TRF and you will find a handful of consistently good watchmakers that many trust and endorse if the RSC is not your cup-of-tea.

Totally agree. I have NEVER had an issue with a RSC, have had dozens of jobs done in several different countries and RSCs. Cheap tends to end expensive. Just sayin...

you have to roll the dice either way to find an indy you like and are happy with. but the regulars here are very good.

the one nice plus about RSC is that the 2yr intl warranty is worth the 25% more (est) $$$ to most wearers, over an indy CW.

Don't know what you've read in the few days here - but years worth of reading on my part has led me to the conclusion you have a very low chance of failure at RSC.

Price is what drives many people to opt for an indie - and that's how I found Gary Wilson CMW21 (yes, certified master watchmaker) here in ATL area. He is also Rolex certified and has a Parts account with both Rolex and Omega (the brands I usually bring him).

in the past I did use 3 other different watchmakers to spread out the work while I dealt on eBay - but I had variable results. Gary proved to be the best and I've stopped using the rest.

I can recommend Mark Sirianni. I just received my wife's DJ back from him. It had a bad clutch wheel. He replaced the clutch wheel and performed a full service and I had it back in Texas all within a week. I have used Manuel Chamosa (highly recommended) locally before but he is at a 7-8 week wait right now. I was nervous about mailing the watch to someone but Mark has great customer service and a quick runaround.

Some people recommend and use Mark on their watches so tried him on a Omega Seamaster. Had to send the watch back to be re-worked due to issues on the date wheel movement and came back with same issue again, ended up getting it fixed by another watchmen.
