Movement, sunshine, water. Read, write, rinse, repeat.

Getting myself to move is sometimes the hardest thing in the world; but an object in motion stays in motion...So get up. Just get up. Then keep it moving.

Move into the sun. We are unrooted fruits of this Earth, and we need nutrients. Treat yourself to fresh squeezed juice instead of that DQ Blizzard. Top out at the Whole Foods salad bar, instead of the Sizzler Popcorn Shrimp station. Find a park or garden and just wander. Get curious about stuff you normally dismiss.

Water is the elixir of life. We are made of it and always need more. It will revitalize and detoxify.

Read nutritious things. I LOVE the personal development space. The 5-Second Rule. Principles. Headstrong. Meditations.

My biggest obstacle is my own interior monologue. I am a master of self-defeat. Journaling used to bring out all of the negative thought patterns I repeatedly convinced myself are "just the way I am." Injecting gratitude, self-appreciation, self-love and self-confidence into my writing(and my painting/music) helps rewrite these broken records.

I've also started looking into EFT and external therapy sources; but just like a barber or a doctor...Good help is fucking hard to find.

You've got a whole family here for you, Sir. The journey is a long and rocky one; but luckily we only need to take one step at a time. Message me if you ever need to chat

These are my blind ideas - not knowing the specifics I couldn't say what's best but hope they resonate somewhat.

Anxiety can surface if you experienced difficulty with personal self-esteem in the past. There could be many other causes, but tackling the underlying issue (as others have said) is key.

Treat it as an enemy over which you will prevail - maybe that challenge itself could uplift your spirits.

Improved self-esteem is a key psychological benefit of regular physical activity. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins that interact with the receptors in your brain - that alone could reduce your depressive emotions.

Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, it's your own body's equivalent to morphine. That feeling is often described as "euphoric", AKA a "runner's high". This can be accompanied by a positive and energizing outlook on life. So the physical can aid the emotional.

Your post noted that virtual connections on TRF have had a positive effect in your situation. It's good to know that TRF helps your outlook.

And the fact that you are trying shows you haven't given up...never give up. You have shown courage to reach out.

Churchill said it quite well in a couple of examples on both points...

"Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense."

and, of course,

"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen."

And you have shown the courage to listen to dozens of strangers to find the tidbits that may be helpful. Much success in the future.

Oh Moggo, one last point, maybe trivial but it proved immensely helpful to me... Music.

I am and have been a New-age music fan for many years, but found myself drawn even deeper in to it when I started suffering anxiety. Whatever type you like, classical, new age, hell even acid rock, when you feel anxiety coming on, put on some headphones, sit/lay down and let the music take you away. It really helped me.

Any interest in a dog to help with anxiety? http://www.assistancedogs.org.uk/

Blessings,

Wow boys, OP and the others who have offered advice or help through their own experiences really is powerful. All of you who have gone through this or are going through this, everyone cares, you are not alone, we all cry when we are sad, we all laugh when we are happy, we all bleed when we are cut....we are all humans, no one is better or worse, we just have different bumpy roads with lots of ups and downs and unexpected turns, we all end up in the same place one day. God bless you all.

CBD (Cannabidiol) Tincture.

Read up on it, and worth a try.

Could hormone replacement therapy possibly help? I know a few people that tell me it helped with anxiety.

I’m really touched by all the kind replies and the honesty of those of you who have suffered and still suffer.

I really feel for those of you who are still going through tough times and hope things improve for you.

My main issue is the Body Dysmorphic Disorder which has really crushed me, most people haven’t heard of it I don’t think but it’s horrible to loathe the way you look to the point you are physically sick if you look at yourself, self esteem is hard to come by.

Thank you once again to you all it means a lot.

I would start with a major physical, blood work and screening for everything. There are a lot of health conditions that can also manifest in a variety of mental health ways, and you should start with a baseline to rule out underlying disease or other issues.
