Which Rolex have you kept the longest?
I love to hear stories about watches that have been with their owner for years and even decades, and I was curious if anyone here has a Rolex they've kept with them for years and wouldn't sell. I'm hoping to keep my GMT until my hair has all but fallen out, haha.

Submariner 14060M. Bought new from an AD about 8 years ago; my first, and remains my favorite Rolex.

Same...I bought mine back in 1999 for full MSRP - $3600. In 2014 it needed $1200 in repairs and instead if of fixing it I ended up trading (as is) for $4500 credit toward a Daytona. I ended up trading the Daytona for a WG Sub a few months later, so in the end it would have been cheaper to bite the bullet on that repair bill! |

I bought my Submariner-168000 in 1988. It's been with me through a lot of things over the years, can't imagine ever selling it

My first Rolex, GMT Master 16713 - I've had it now for 30 years. I think it's the most beautiful piece I own.

Have had my first Rolex, Explorer 214270, since 2011. Will never sell it. Just picking it up this weekend after its first service. Missed it very much for the last month!

I thought my 5513 was a keeper but after a decade or so it became redundant.
After a while I was inspired by the MK II DSSD which I eventually bought about 6.5 years ago and subsequently added the D-blue in the meantime. On reflection I think the DSSD in either flavour is pretty well rusted on. |

I've had my black GMT-IIc since 2008 and remains one of my favorite and most accurate mechanical watches. Don't plan on ever selling it. Cheers!

My first was a 16710 in 1998; Traded it a couple years later for a 16570 then bought another 16710 I’ve had ever since.
Also my 16610LV 50th anniversary sub I bought from an AD in 2004 and I will not part with it. |

My first was a Rolex SS 1500 Date bought in 1979, still have it and still in my rotation! I will never get rid! This watch has been all over the world, survived depths to 120’ been through all the major milestones in my life.

Bought my 16200 Datejust in 2005 and my Sub LV new in 2008. Both are keepers.
My SD4K and Daytona are more recent purchases.

My 1st 35mm TT YM1 with slate dial, purchased it at the age of 22 and sold it at the age of 32. I always thought that I would never need a watch again, until I chipped the glass working on my house. I went jet skiing and salt water got in, I had it repaired than got rid of it. I was naked w/o a Rolex for two years, than I got me a 16622 YM1 w/ platinum dial.

I still have my first... BLNR bought in 2014. But it'll eventually go to my oldest daughter at a time when I feel she's responsible for it. Still got plenty of time with it though since she's not even 2 years old.

18238. I've never been into flipping watches and have never sold a Rolex. Eventually I am going to sell all of 'em as I think I'll be a better judge of value than my kids. Interestingly enough, though, I do plan on buying a Rolex for both of my kids when they graduate from college. But my son will probably end up with something like a 114060 instead of the 18238. I just can't see handing off a Presidential to a 22 year old. Not because I think he wouldn't be incredibly grateful and take good care of it, but because that's a hard watch for a young man to pull off. Maybe later in life the kids (boy & girl) will get the whole collection - or maybe I'll liquidate and turn the collection into cash at some point in the future. Still thinking through what would work best for my daughter. We'll see.

Though it's only been "mine" for about 2.5 years, my great-grandfather's Rolex has been in the family since about 1940. It doesn't get much wrist time, but it sure isn't going anywhere!
