Icon20 Can this be fixed?

Hi all,

I have a Panerai here that the numbers and writings on its bezel are kind of faded (presumably because of polish?). I was wondering if thos can be fixed so it looks dark and bold they way it should.

Thanks in advance

Yes, it can be fixed by repainting, unless the depth has been severely reduced.

DIY if you prefer, search YouTube for “repaint watch bezel”

In the photo it looks like the engraved text on the bezel was severely diminished by over polishing. The rest of the numbers seem to be OK.

I surmise a scratch was removed and with it - lot of metal was smoothed out. When repainted, the bezel will need to be cleaned again with a light polishing. Hopefully light handiwork will leave more color in the engraved portion.

Isn't the bezel replaceable? That might be the best route to go.

Fear of that happening in the long run is one of the main reasons I sold my Explorer II. As the others have pointed out you should be able to get it repainted. In your shoes I would eventually look into having the bezel replaced but for now either option should sort this out.

I don't like how it is uneven and seemingly polished more on one side than the other.
I would opt for a new bezel if it was my choice and it was an option from Panerai. It shouldn't cost too much.
