Dress Watch
I currently have a Milgauss, Explorer 2 and a Railmaster. I wear the Railmaster on a leather strap as my de facto dress watch but I don’t believe it’s a proper dress watch. My leading candidate is the JLC Master Control. I’m also considering the Cellini Time, but it’d be a stretch used. The new JLC looks to be about half the price of a used Cellini.
Anyone with experience with these two watches? Anything else I should be considering in the $4000 to $8000 range? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

To my eyes, the cellini looks a little dressier than the JLC. Guess it depends on what look you're going for.

Sometimes it's hard to compare watches of totally different price points because in your mind it's hard not to factor the price in. I definitely like the Cellini better, but I'm not sure if I like it twice the price better. |

Also, the Cellini being a no date model is a plus in my book. I wish the JLC didn't have a date. Although the date being blue is pretty cool.

JLC is nice, or you could sell one Rolex and get the Lange Saxonia, great value for a Haute piece.

I also like th black dial mc date jlc - that one is a tad dressier. The blue accents sport that jlc up a bit. Love idea of moving one of these three and picking up used Lange 1815 or vc patrimony

IWC Portuguese is in your price range, especially pre owned. I’d probably grab the Cellini but the IWC is another option. There are other IWC lines that could do the trick as well. Though I generally don’t like the Constellation line from Omega there are a few pieces in there that could also do... the Co-axial movement is very good.

Both look good, although I definitely prefer the Cellini. The date on the JLC kills it a bit for me.
But I’m probably the wrong guy to be opining in ‘dress’ watches as my dress watch is a diver (-; |

What about a Breguet Classique? A classic, simple dress watch with the beautiful Breguet hands.

JLC is a great choice, also look at IWC, both offer good value on the secondary market. You have two Rolex and one Omega, may as well try a different style of watch, from a brand that has a different focus.

Wow, that's a great looking piece! I can't believe I am even thinking about a Lange. It's interesting how if you stick around here long enough, watches that seemed out of range eventually sound like they're in range.

JLC MUT Moon? I like it in black. The white dial is hard to read.

I would consider the MUT Moon, Master Control Geographic, or the JLC Reverso. Classics all and in your price range. Each offers its own unique complications.

I’ve actually seen that white dail Milgauss on a brown strap and it looks pretty awesome as a dress watch to me.

A lot of dress watch love for on here for JLC. I'll be going to Vegas in a couple of weeks and I'm scoping out JLC dealers there now. I think I need to spend some time seeing these in person. The Reverso seems universally revered, so I think that would be a good one to get a closer look at as well.

Strongly recommend the ALS Saxonia. If you're open to the idea, check out the 37mm thin model on the secondary market for some additional $ savings.

I want a master control geographic to fill the "dress" watch in my collection. I have gotten away with the speedy on black croc strap in a black tie setting pretty well, IMO.

I don't own an ALS piece, however If I was in the market for a dress watch they'd certainly be toward the top.
