AD here in STL pulled one out of his display case for me to try on. Surely at or near the pinnacle of all timepieces.

The Platona is my ultimate grail watch but there are a few problems for me even if I can afford it someday. Its 80k+ at an AD(tax) and minimum 50k from a trusted seller. For me it would be awkward to own such a nice piece even if I can afford it. Wearing it at work or around friends would just be strange. If word got out I'm wearing a 75k watch people will have me committed or think I have issues at best.(most of my friends are very successful just more practical) My 116500 is about right for me and even that is pushing it. It will cost about 800 a year to insure the platona. Hell I don't even own a car here in SF and rent an apartment. Even if I do get it someday id probably end up selling it after I realize there are so many more things I can do with the money. I even get thoughts about parting with my D500 at times but I know that would be a huge mistake.

But with that said, its the king of watches and in my opinion the nicest watch on the planet. If you can afford it and forget about what it costs then go for it. She's a beauty.

I feel like with the Platona people will be like "Dang he's loaded" With the D500 people will be like "how and how long did it take to get that?" (happened a few times) but who cares what people think right?

Sorry I tried to edit the post and it got duplicated.
