Tudor Warranty
I returned my Tudor Black Bay recently for a warranty repair. Watch was bought new and is still under the 2 year warranty. The crown had pulled out and stopped functioning properly. I returned the watch through Mayors a local Tudor dealer. They just called to say that the crown is not covered under warranty because it is "aesthetic". I would appreciate any feedback or input on this response and/or any similar experience. I cannot find any small print as to what the Rolex/Tudor warranty does or does not cover but this response is hard to understand.

Warranties cover manufacturing defects, they do not cover wear-and-tear or damage.
If the crown issue was not caused by you or misuse, it should be a covered issue. You may need to send a letter off to Rolex to clear this up if the Dealer is not explaining it sufficiently.

I agree with Tools. There's nothing "aesthetic" about a non-functioning crown. It's essential to the function of the movement. If you didn't cause the damage, then it should be covered under a standard warranty. The one caveat would be if the Tudor warranty expressly excludes crowns. I know the Rolex warranty makes no such exclusion.

Thanks...I found the warranty language and the only exclusion language states ".....excludes normal wear and tear (notably the wear and tear of non-metal bracelets and straps, loss, theft and damage due to misuse"

Seems mayors sucks. ‘Aethetic’ seems like a bs answer’. I haven’t heard good things about this place.

Request the watch back from them and send directly to RSC Dallas yourself. You'll get much better results. Call them and they will email you a PDF with packing and shipping instructions. I have sent two watches to them directly now. I will never go through an AD again.

Based on what you've told us so far, though, I would say Mayors is full of crap. You can either lean on them more, find another AD to handle the service, or deal with an RSC directly. Ks6pd's suggestion might make the most sense. |

I’ve been handling Rolex/Tudor repairs for my store for 3+ years now and I’ve NEVER heard them say “aesthetic” anything. If it’s impact damage, that’s a different story, but this sounds like Mayors has an in-house repair facility and didn’t send it to Tudor. Just my 0.02 |
