Incoming!!!!!

First, pretty new to TRF so I want to say hello and to thank everyone here for providing extremely useful info (wish I’d known about the forum before I made my first Rolex purchase).

After spending a month with a DJ41, I decided it just wasn’t for me...I needed something more robust, something I could be confident in no matter where I took it. A pic on a WRUW post reminded me of the perfect option. After a little more research I decided that was the right one for me, and after making a very smooth transaction with DavidSW, the Explorer II 16570 has arrived.

Now straight to RSC for a full service (unfortunately there’s no service history so I’m assuming it’s never been done) and VERY LIGHT polish (thanks TRF for advice on both, either directly or indirectly)...looking very forward to having a second go-anywhere, anytime option in the rotation, something that will be used hard and appreciated for the rest of my life.

If you travel over multiple zones the Explorer II is a nice watch to own. I like the black face. Nice purchase.

Why don’t you also opt out of the service until you see if it needs it?

Peace of mind on the waterproofing front is the biggest reason. I see it as insurance because I plan to wear the watch forever.

You’re spot on about that—after they sized it I realized I was wearing the most comfortable watch I’ve ever worn...and in three weeks I can start enjoying it forever

I think the black dial deserves much more attention. What a great example you have there.

I'd call David and check with him. He might have had his watch maker go over it before he shipped it. Could save you the cost of a service.

Confirmed with him yesterday there were no service records and he didn’t mention anything about a watchmaker checking it out. Was hoping it was otherwise but it wasn’t.
