The reason you have so few replies is because yoyr simply wrong. Rolex makes great watches. I own AP, PP, GS, Credor. Rolex makes great watches. OVERALL best watches. MOST reliable watches. Everose is beautiful. Your vintage Bulova is absolutely stunning but no need to bash Rolex for it.

I was not bashing Rolex - I have two myself - but trying to show that there are other beautiful and reliable watches out there. I have watches from the fifties that I wear still, and they don't cost a fortune to service.
Here is one I bought in 1966, still running RELIABLY. There is life outside of the Rolex world.

Show me a Rolex as pretty as this.

There are quite a few Rolex fancy lug models from the 50s and 60s which I think are much prettier IMHO

This whole thread is full of beautiful watches, Rolex and otherwise. I love that era of watch design.

The closest thing I have is this Eternamatic from the late 50’s/early 60’s.

Yes, I agree. That level of elegance is seldom seen these days. "Big and Brutal" was an not popular then.
Here is the first 1948 Omega Seamaster. I rescued it from a parts bin. True it doesn't have fancy lug work, but it exudes tasteful design.

Very attractive, as are the other examples shown above. The GMT Master is a good looking watch (I have the 1959 version below) but it is not "pretty" in the artistic design sense. It is a handsome tool watch.

One more example, but this one is not so much "pretty", but classic in its design. This mid fifties Omega is the design that speaks to me above all the others in my collection. It represents to me what a traditional man's watch should look like.
Yes, I know, all very subjective, and very much tied to the world in which we grew up.
