BLNR Discontinued
I don’t have enough posts for link but ablogtowatch says the BLNR is discontinued. If you read their “Hands on” article for the new Pepsi on jubilee you will see it. Hopefully someone else can post link.
Bet it skyrockets in value from here. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Here’s the text
Rolex began their newest generation of high-performance in-house made movements inside the Day-Date 40 watch, as well as the use of their latest generation of watch case production techniques. The new cases are very well finished and do indeed make for a slightly better experience than the outgoing generation of GMT-Master II watches. That also means the popular "Batman" black and blue bezel Rolex GMT-Master II 116710BLNR is now a discontinued model. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

It's still on Rolex website. Doubt it.

Ablogtowatch have posted lots of incorrect baselworld things in the past. I won't believe it til I see it removed from the website.

Perhaps that reference will be phased out because the new version of the watch case and new movement have a different reference. But the BLNR bezel color is likely to continue. Can't see why they would discontinue this popular color combo.
116710BLNR is discontinued, replaced by the 126710BLNR and the 116710LN will be replaced by the 126710LN. The reference numbers with the '2' have the new 32XX movement. |

Just posted this in a separate, related thread...
For others reading, here is the link. However, I don't think anyone can say the BLNR is on the chopping block just yet. As far as I can tell, the article's author is jumping to that conclusion based on the same exact information we all have. New movement and (slightly) different case means it's officially a discontinued model? I do agree this year's announcement puts the current LN and BLNR in the crosshairs for a decision in the near-term. Do they introduce this year's movement and modified case to a new LN next year on an Oyster bracelet? Will the BLNR bezel be put to rest if they do this with the LN next year? I don't know how it plays out, but for now it seems the BLNR is still around and shipments will continue to flow in. |

Because they just introduced more “popular” color combo :) I think they have too many color combos in current lineup and they should work on fulfilling demand for the new release.

There is not reason to discontinue the BLNR, it will just be upgraded with new movement.

Ariel Adams is known for making up / elaborating stories. Not exactly the best source of journalism compared to the dink.

hm it's still on the website right? however, I think since rolex is starting to release GMT in new movements, once rolex upgrades whole GMT line, BLNR will be discontinued eventually probably sooner than the hulk since there are no changes in the sub yet

ABTW is honestly a disappointment. Poor fact checking/proofing in their article and poor video quality. Previously they’re one of the main source for horology but now lag behind other sources like Hodinkee, Time and Tide, etc

Seriously, I could see adding the new movement to the BLNR. Why when Rolex can't produce a true Red and Blue bezel would they discontinue making one they're successful at. This truly makes no sense.

Stick to HODINKEE or Monochrome for info and Ablogtowatch for pictures. Not saying it’s impoosible, but Ablogtowatch or at least some authors there seem to make many assumptions like this that they later need to back off of.
If true, I ask them to then explain the new WG BLRO with old 3186 |

Judging by the new WG, the BLNR will likely remain an outlet to move 3186 movements. Coke and Red hand LN next year are my guess with the new case and movement.

I can certainly see this happening. Plus, even the lucky few will barely be able to get a hold of a SS pepsi until late summer. Why create a void by discontinuing the BLNR before pepsi's come out to market?

Exactly. Rolex just updated their website and the BLNR is clearly still available.

I think how long the BLNR stays on the market depends on both how many black-blue bezels they still have in stock/production and how many older movements they now need to move to completely convert production over to the newer one. Given the BLNR's popularity, maintaining it for awhile to sell off the old movements makes sense.
Really don't think the BLNR will receive an upgraded movement and be continued, but that Rolex will put it in an entirely new bezel color model after the Pepsi is established. Maybe even the SS Coke that people here really seem to want. Don't think a lot of people actually thought that they would roll out a "Rootbeer" GMT this year, so who knows. Would not trade my BLNR in for a Pepsi, now or in the future though. |

Why would Rolex discontinue one of their best selling model atm? Just so that demand can be focused on sale of SS Pepsi? Hm.. not sure.

The 116710 LN & BLNR will be available until current inventory of cases & movements are depleted, after which we will see 126710 LN. This is when the BLNR may possibly be discontinued.

Not sure how relevant the stock of BLNR components is; remember Rolex commits to keeping parts on hand for 20 (or is it 30?) years from date of final production, and there are a lot of 3186 movements out there that will need those parts, no? Rolex could simply decide to replace 3186 movements coming in for service (vs. taking time to overhaul and rebuild them), no? This assumes that they are assembled, vs. simply sitting there as unassembled parts.
I'd think the all black version, with the green 24hr hand, would be first to "go" i.e. receive the updated movement/case and a red hand. |
