Daytona fever... "Investment Grade Condition"
"Investment Grade Condition" he says. If this is investment grade, all my watches are NOS.

The term is commonly used but loosely defined in things like Bonds and Diamonds.
In diamonds, investment-grade supposedly have greater clarity, color and are usually larger than other stones. In bonds, it generally means those issues by highly rated corporations or governments. But a Daytona? That’s a new one for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Maybe the seller is referring to the "hand made crocodile strap."
My from my vantage, and in my opinion, the case, bezel, hands or dial are a long ways from good condition, let alone great or mint. But investment grade condition? What exactly does that mean? $135K = Brave New Word, I guess.

Nice old Daytona, albeit with badly relumed hands and other condition issues. HOWEVER, the description is insulting to novice and veteran hobbyists alike, IMHO. The price? Well, that's up to a potential buyer to evaluate.

"Investment grade" refers to them enjoying a bottle of Dom Pérignon after selling this watch to some rich unsuspecting chap.

Its really a shame that a "dealer" who positions himself as an expert in vintage watches spends more time writing fancy descriptions that border fraud than they do educating themselves. If he spent half as much time doing research, he might become a better dealer. Instead it appears he just wants to act the part. |
