The buyer of the Paul Newman Paul Newman

So I came across the video about 40 minutes long and it was an interview at SIHH of Aurel Bacs . it centered around the Paul Newman Paul newman That Recently sold for 17 million . One of the questions was about the morality of such an expensive watch . His cancer centered around charity and part of the proceeds going to charity .However interesting Comment was he knows the buyer and how much they Contribute to charity . So I was thinking that a Rolex contribute most of the profits to charity. Would they make Rolex the new owner of the “Paul Newman .

I don't think Rolex contributes substantially to charity.

Actually, Rolex gives away vast sums of money. And it’s easily researched if you care to. Hans Wildorf wanted to ensure that his company continued to do well and effected good as well as supporting it’s employees. Just one more reason why I am so fond of Rolex watches.

Before old Hansi passed away he told me via secret company memo about his plan to raise prices every year so he could give more money away to sick and hungry children. In effect, every time someone complains about a price raise they’re really saying “no I don’t want to feed these starving kids.”

Damn shame the company didn’t stick to the plan of raises every year. #PriceIncreasesSaveLives

The buyer of the Paul Newman Paul Newman

The laws governing Foundations in Switzerland mean that we'll never know what percentage of money Rolex puts into anything. The fact that the auctioneer said at the time that this is a piece that will never come up again is a strong indication that the buyer was Rolex.

+1 You can only say such statement if the buyer was indeed Rolex. I hope they open Rolex Museum in Geneva one day - better than Patek has

They apparently do not publish any numbers regarding charitable contributions. The foundation was set up to perpetuate Rolex.
