114270 Help Needed
Hi Everyone,
I went to check out an F8XXXXX serial (2005) 114270 today and the pictures are below. Apologize for the lighting, as I had to take these with my cell phone indoors. The watch seemed in good shape and it also comes with B&P. Some of questions and/or concerns which I need your thoughts on (ranked by priority): 1 - when I pushed down the crown to screw it tight, it made a clicking sound until it was fully closed. Is this normal? This doesn't happen with either of my other Rolexes and quite frankly was the biggest issue why I didn't purchase today. What would cause this? 2 - when I was winding the watch, it didn't seem very smooth and it made a clicking sound. However, this may just be because the watch was fully wound? 3 - how does the watch look to you guys cosmetically? Lugs seemed okay to me but I can definitely tell they've been polished. This is completely fine as it's 13 years old but do they seem over-polished to you? Anything else you see? 4 - I didn't see a bracelet number stamped on the back of the bracelet, is that normal? 5 - it comes with 12 links, is that the full amount or is 13 correct? Thanks everyone! Looking forward to your help here. |

Nothing pops out from the images but the winding issue is likely a service due matter.
Mainspring, crown, tube etc. It's well due if it was a daily wear. |

Thank you! I am looking to make a decision in the next few days so this is helpful! Are those items covered in the normal maintenance fees by RSC or does RSC usually charge extra $ for parts?

Typical 5-7yr movement service is; $550 - $750 from RSC $450 - $650ish with an independent Once you do that service, do the whole thing rather than save a few dollars itemizing everything like crown tube and stem but keep the old crown etc.. Techs hate that stuff and you'll eventually need the other stuff done anyway. |

I recall from experience (2017) that crown replacement is mandatory with a service at RSC.

This model of Rolex is nearly perfectly faked indeed perfectly.
Crown/winding/stem are the only external ways to see suspicion. Get a photo of movement/balance wheel ASAP Even if just to put your mind at rest

Yes doing this prior to handing over my cash. Anyone else have thoughts regarding the condition of the watch or my questions around the bracelet? |

The winding issue was probably just as you thought. It was likely already fully wound and you are hearing/feeling the "clicks" as the mainspring slips to the next notch inside the barrel. This is a sort of a built-in "clutch" feature to prevent over-winding. Regarding the "missing" reference number on the bracelet end-link: Yes it's normal. The bracelet reference number should be stamped on the inside of the clasp blade (along with the date code) and on the inside of the SEL link (also with the date code). You will have to remove the bracelet to see/confirm the latter. That is something I would do anyway, as I'd also want to confirm the case reference number and make sure the SN matches the papers. |
