Looks like a big hit on the Patek. Secondary pricing I'm seeing is as low as half of the list. Ouch. That loss is as much as the cost of a Sky D on the secondary market. Definitely better to look before leaping. I'd guess one would have to hold onto the Patek for a long time before it comes back to it retail price. Keep it or sell it, it's the same. A big hit. OP, glad to hear you finely got the Sky D you wanted. They're great watches!!!

Thank you for the kind words on the Sky. For the Patek, based on offers from dealers, it’s a 15-20% hit on the Patek. If it were 50, I might be out of the watch hobby! Ha!

Well, maybe not the greatest TS but ebay at $28K vs Patek at $48K. $20K difference!!! Someone sure took a hit!!!

Thanks, but that's a different watch (or, at least, a totally different dial), without the beautiful applied rose-gold breguet numbers or indices.

The Patek is beautiful but if I was in your situation and wasn’t completely in love with and could get close to full value back I’d sell it. No point keeping a watch of that value just for the sake of it.

The statement above sure sounds like love to me.

I learned my lesson. Flipping watches is not cheap. My watch purchases are far less money, but in the end it's still money. What I learned was buy the watch you want. End of story. Buying another watch will not stop you from wanting what you wanted in the first place. I will not buy anything unless I absolutely love it and can't stop thinking about it. As far as watches goes I am content for now on what I have (3 pieces). I still look at other watches and would like to own/wear them, but don't want to pay for them. Figure I will stay small and expand in a year or two. Give the ones I have now some wrist time. Never will be a 1 watch guy - never been so I at least don't have to try to be something I am not.

Since you’ve only owned the Patek 3 months, I’d keep it and even make yourself wear it for awhile, even a week at a time. The only thing you do by selling it now is guarantee a loss. You want to be sure if you sell it you don’t regret it and want to buy it back. And if you do sell it, I’d bet the biggest depreciation hit has already been taken. Meaning you’d get about the same now as six months from now.

This is a valuable lesson. Learn it only once.

That Sky Dweller is pretty nice.

I learned my lesson also with selling an impulse purchase but thankfully it was just an Omega Aqua Terra and not something way more expensive.
