Smithsonian Air and Space museum visit

Ok I took the family to DC for the Cherry blossom explosion last week.
Our daughter is finally at an age where we felt she would appreciate all the sites. While stopping in the Air and Space museum there were quite a number of watches on display.

That Seiko Astron

Why are you doing this to me?

I was almost going to buy one in Japan for $7k. I regret to this day that I didn't. It was sold immediately after. That watch is probably the most important watch in watch making history. The first commercially available quartz watch ever made.

It brought the swiss watch making industry on their knees. Bankrupt many companies.

There is one in the Seiko museum. 18k gold. Brown leather strap. Its a beauty.
