Next watch, Longines Legend Diver vs Grand Seiko quartz
I'm trying to decide between two very different watches for my next purchase, a 37mm quartz Grand Seiko (sbgx261) and the 42mm Longines Legend Diver date:
I'm dressed casually virtually all the time. This is the rest of my collection with X's over a couple watches I am selling. I know these are completely unrelated choices, and it all comes down to taste. However, I'd love to hear some thoughts one way or the other. |

I happen to own, and am currently wearing, an LLD. I also have an SBGV025 GS quartz in my collection.
To keep it short, I would choose the LLD over the GS for casual wear. I personally find the watch to be very versatile and is currently my go to default/beater watch. ---LLD notes----------------------- -Wears big for it size due to Lug to Lug -Generally works well with any casual clothing. ---SGBX notes-------------------------- -Wears small for its size (In fact this is the reason I went with the 40MM SBGV) -Beautifully finished (Makes the case and hands on the LLD look rather cheap in comparison) |

Thanks, everyone. I think I'm going to go for the Longines since I am pretty much always in casual or semi casual wear.

Between those two I would choose the SEIKO GS.
Can the Longines really be classified as a DIVER?

I wear my SBGT235 with casual wear all the time, and it's always ready to go and always dead on time (lost half a second in 2.5 months).

I've always loved the LLD but found it fell a little flat when I tried it on. Mostly because I thought it wore too big for me, but also felt the hands were a little lacking. That being said, I still get urges to buy one, but I kinda moved on with other divers, and I have added a quartz GS as well.
I do think the quartz GS fits in better with your collection, given it wears a bit dressier, like the DJ but with a black dial. You already have a ton of nice more sporty watches, but if you find you wear those more often, I guess the LLD would likely get more wrist time. Would be best to try them both on, as they'd wear very very differently. |

I'd rather say the Longines, for it's almost dressy look which would complement your collection. The GS looks too close in design to your DJ, unless you take it on black leather strap.
Hey... there's no Speedy in your collection. What's wrong? :) |

I think the Longines looks better. I'm just not into Grand Seikos...something about the design that I just don't find to be congruent. For the record, I like Seikos, I own a few. :)

That GS is a wonderful watch, I have that model with the white dial. Unless you really like small watches, as I do, better to go with the Longines. I have tried on the GS, and it feels smaller than the one I have even though identical size. It is a more versatile watch, though.
I have also looked at that Longines many times, and if it were my choice I would go with the Longines. Cheers, Carl
