Any improvement on SS Sports Shortages?
This topic may likely draw some fire so if it is not to your likings please kindly move on to another thread.
I met with a fellow collector today over lunch and one topic that we touched upon was shopping a Birth year watch for his newborn grandson which then led to sharing our recent experience finding Rolex SS Sport Models, with no strings attached, at ADs that we had no prior relationship with. On two different occasions I got a DSSD D-Blue (in display case) and a BLNR (walk in). Around the same period between early March to this week at two different ADs, he got a 116710LN (in display case), 116610LN (in display case), and a DSSD D-Blue (in display case). We also saw DSSD Black and no-date sub at display case. SS Daytona C and SD43 remains no where to be found of course. I can understand Rolex or ADs are selling the last of the DSSDs to make room for 126660. But do you think seeing other SS Sport Models like GMT and Subs on display and recent “incoming threads” can give us some hope that things can get back to normal sometime in the future? You can get whatever now, maybe except for a Daytona. If you're ready, order before July is my experience. I was told in September last year that I'd have the green Sub and SD43 before December 1st. Sub came on the 20th of December and the Sea Dweller, right after the 1st of the year.

For me, it's hard to tell. Initially after Basel, I thought people may of held onto stock (and when it wasn't discontinued) they chose to sell it. On the other hand, a certain percentage (I couldn't even guess) of the incoming posts are gray market watches. You can argue that a sale is a sale, but people holding inventory compound the situation, which makes it harder to get a clear picture.
I remain hopeful, but on the other hand, I've bought two watches in under 6 months, so I'm fine waiting awhile for the next one. |

I feel there is an improvement. I mean just look at the amount of new watch posts on here for SS subs. The dealer in dubai now has them despite previously advising there’s a huge wait. I believe it’s starting to soften. Or at least I hope it is.

It's a small sample size, but there seem to be a lot of incomings in the last few days.
