I don't think SS prices are pushing up PM prices, I paid less for my second hand WG Daytona than SS ones are changing hands for in Australia. Look hard and you should get a good deal on a platinum one, or consider the Gold options.

I was wondering if the sales person might have originally incorrectly listed the watch price but after reading all the haggling that was going on, no way. How about doing us all a favor and pointing them out so no-one else needs to go through that hassle.

I'd buy from DavidSW in a heartbeat without reservations. I picked up a piece from Takuya earlier this year and was happy with the outcome. I see the one on the DavidSW, but I'm looking for the diamond dial version. Pricing on the platinum is already tricky, the diamond dial variation adds another variable. If anyone wants to know what shop to avoid based on this failed transaction, I'll fill you in via PM. I don't necessarily want to trash the guy because he could have had a good reason for disavowing his initial offer. It just felt slimy enough to me to give me pause and make me rethink the timing of a Rolex purchase given the frothiness of the market. |
