DRSD Mk3 from a Mk4?
Newbie here.
Anybody know how to tell a DRSD Mk3 from a Mk4? A few days ago, a watch collector spotted the Sea-Dweller I was wearing and got excited, saying it is a double red Sea-Dweller. It was my dad's. He bought it new in Geneva at Rolex HQ in the early 1970's. Up until a few days ago, I didn't know it was anything special. I searched but could not find the answer to my question. So, can anybody tell me how to tell a Mk3 from a Mk4 without taking off the case back? Thanks, Jim |

Thanks Brazen. I did read that, but it didn't help me much.
If I can figure out how to post pics, maybe that will help you guys. Thanks, Jim |

Hmmph. Site says I need 10 posts to post a link. I guess a picture is a link, because it won't let me post it.
Anyway, I thought it was a Mk4, but now I'm thinking it could as well be a Mk3. Must be tough to tell w/o taking off the case back, because no one seems to know. It's going to a Rolex dealer, so we'll find out. Stay tuned. |

Take a look to the crown on the dial and the position of the L (from ROLEX) under the crown.
You'll find out the differences to discover mark 3 and mark 4. |

The L in ROLEX is directly below the crown.
So, is that a 3 or a 4? |

Mk3 is top pic
MK4 is bottom Pic. L centered under crown on the Mk 4. Also notice the difference in the looks of the crowns. My least favorite is the Mk4. |

Just look at the shape of the crown. They are different. Also the red lettering is more pronounced brighter ok the mk4

Well, the jeweler who specializes in vintage Rolex says its a very good example of a Mk.4.
Thanks all who chimed in. And, thanks, Dad. |

The giveaway for me (if you can get a look through a loupe) is that the Mk4 red script is made up of tiny dots.
Edit, I had the pleasure of meeting DRSD.com's founder at the weekend, as the "Issued 3" meeting, lovely chap. |
