50k on a watch - how do you spend it?

Been entertaining the thought of adding the Platinum DD40 to my collection.

Friend tells me I'm crazy and to spend that on a RG Patek 5711.

So my question..

If you were looking in the 50k range what would you be looking at?

I wouldn’t, I’d get two watches. Nothing very interesting to me at that level (at least with grey pricing and not MSRP). Lots of stuff at $25k-$30k, then nothing until $100k.

If I had $50K to spend on a watch, and I never will, I'd go for the Patek. It has more of a presence on the wrist than the DD40 which could easily be mistaken for WG.

That’s a non starter for you, if somebody were to mistake your platinum timepiece for white gold?

Better yet Platinum DD40 and add a SS 5711 later. The Plat DD40 has serious wrist presence and the dials are amazing especially this one. The look and feel of the bracelet and weight of platinum makes it tough to beat. I would much rather have it than a 5711R personally. There is really nothing like a platinum watch especially on a bracelet.

Yeah, a Patek 5711 is about right - but in YG if they come in that.

I'd be happy with a gold Sub. But I'm not a rich guy.

Honestly those are two great options at that price. I’d go for the DD as it seems to be your first choice. Never play the but I could get this for the same money game. It ends in flips lol

Can you get a the PP for $50K? I did a quick search and even with a leather bracelet the lowest price I see is about $55000. A well known gray dealer here has two PT. DD's for just under $50K.

Either way, for the money I'd rather have the platinum on my wrist. But I will say the RG 5711 w/chocolate dial is stunning. All gold bracelet is in the $65,000 range though.

I personally went with the Platona. PP models are nice, but I just wanted something all platinum. Very happy I did!

Platinum Daytona or DD would be my choice. If you can find one at msrp though, a 5712a is a strong contender.

To Ken, the watch game is strong with you. Killer shots.

Thanks and it’s a great watch. The RN’s jump off the dial and the quadrant motif so subtle.

I spent just over $50K ($51+tax) on a PP 5711/1R ... no regrets and it's my holy grail watch.

Yes, I've heard mid 50's. Suppose that you got an awesome deal

Entertaining the 5711r but know that I want a platinum reference at some point.

Already have a rg dd40, a yg daytona, and a wg sub in the stable.

I LOVE this reference. I used to want a platinum Daytona until I saw this one. The blue indices are perfect.
