Tom Hanks' character didn't expect the plane to go down in the Indian Ocean, right? Therefore, the answer to this original question should be the same as the answer to which watch you will wear when you leave the house this afternoon. You just don't know what your scenario will be... :)
In my case, the answer will be a GMT 1675. Tough enough to endure most stuff including decent water resistance. In a survival situation, besides some basic skills, the mental game is everything and my guess is that nothing on a watch can reinforce the WILL to survive one more day as much as seing you "home" timezone of the loved ones far away, and also the reminder of the days ticking by on the date to stay sane. It would have to be a steel Sub Date. You would need a rugged watch with a date. Actually perhaps a gold Sub since I could have something valuable to trade for supplies or even save my life if I end up discovering hostile natives.

I've never understood those that think if a topic has ever been discussed before, it dare not be discussed again. How boring would this place be if all we could do would be to search for topics discussed years ago instead of getting new thoughts on the same or similar topics. It's not like anyone is making you read the thread.
Sigh ...

Even given the circumstances, deserted on an island, with no calendar, the purists still don’t want a date on their sub Lol!! All kidding aside, I agree. My sub will do... with a date. Maybe a nato strap instead of oyster. |

Not every0ne is like you Mike. I'm free to criticize and speak my mind on the world platform. I honestly prefer threads that are unorthodox , unconventional and thought provoking, full of original ideas Mike, besides did know topics like these are frowned upon ( My favorite Moderator is back now so he's sort of imposing the rules ) on another forum? Personally the best threads to look at watches are actually "WRUW today". Zombie, Meteor Apocalypes, Marooned in an Island , my watch on an Alien planet threads arent my cup of tea anymore. How boring is it to have only one watch with you as you fight for survival knowing perhaps tomorrow might be your last.. Me ? I'm bringing ALL my watches to the afterlife !

The Sub would be my first pick, buck If I actually wanted to get off
The island, I guess the Breitling Emergency would be the best pick. |
