You need the updated movement in the BLNR! If only to give your life some semblance of meaning! |

You Might Want to Wait on That Batman
This is fun to read. The question is a bit ridiculous given the high demand BLNR market and the very minor tweak to the 3186 to make the 3285 movement.
First, they are basically the same movement with the 85 having a larger power reserve but really who needs more than 50hrs of reserve anyway? If my watch is off the wrist more than 10hrs, sitting idle it will be off for a good week or two at the very least. 10-15% improvement of accuracy??? Really??? I would take the proven reliability of the 3186 over the new but unproven 3285 any day. You never know if any issues would pop up in a new design regardless of how minor the change. I know, I know, slim chance it has issues but you never know. But let’s not pretend that people who want one of these timepieces are not getting one because of the CHANCE it will house the “revolutionary” 3285 movement and their “old” BLNRs value might drop like a new RV driven off the lot. It’s not. It’s a high demand, hard to find piece that requires a premium price to be paid outside ADs. Period. That’s how it is now and will be even if the new movement is chosen. Or maybe I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about and I should sell my 2 day old BLNR to the highest bidder and just “wait it out”. Nah! What’s the fun in THAT!?!?!? That is some good writing. Not depressed or ‘seriously’ calling anyone depressed for that matter. That section of the post was my poor attempt at injecting some additional humor into the conversation. I can see how it didn’t read that way. My apologies if I came across like an a hole. By the way it is an awesome looking piece and it wouldn’t surprise me if they kept it going with the new guts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm sorry for reading your comments directed at me as ad hominem attacks, but I don't know how else to interpret them. What you may have thought would be funny to some members was not particularly funny to me. You are right about two things, though: It does look nice (like all GMTs), and the new movement isn't much different than its predecessor. |

There is no consistent view on this forum about ADs. Some members think they are untrustworthy scum recently unleashed from hell to disseminate lies and falsehood. Other members think they are holy warriors of justice fighting the grey market villains with their swords of truth, fairly and reasonably ask customers to buy watches and jewelry they don't want in order to get on a "grail list" and that only these hallowed brothers have the right to sell Rolexes with their supreme customer service and inside knowledge. Wait til some of the latter come in here and you may get a more favourable response. Hang in there. |

Thank you, last two posters.
As a side note, I am not trying to give anyone definitive advice about when to purchase a "Batman." In my first follow-up post, I said one should contact one or multiple ADs to confirm this information. While the salesperson did say all the GMTs would be getting the new movement this year, she did not specifically say the BLNR (or LN, for that matter) is included. Furthermore, I don't know whether the BLNR is something Rolex would discontinue. |

I think it makes sense for all GMT models to run the same new movement. Sharing the same movement will simplify the manufacturing process and reduce cost. From recent history: The very last run of last pepsi GMT has the updated movement before Rolex discontinued this model and introduced the GMT-LN. I could have picked up one of these rare last pepsi GMT, but I chose the GMT-LN instead.

The AD doesn’t know jack and isn’t told jack, as much as Generation nobly would like to have been given some secret insider information he could use to make everyone’s lives better. There’s nothing any different from any other AD said this or that assertion thread. Nothing. |

And yet You continue to malign and insult people. You seem angry about a lot more issues than not getting 100% agreement on your loopy thesis that your magical AD is a source of truth. She’s not. Grow up. Don’t be a troll. They are not nice people. Last edited by jstan9; 23 May 2018 at 06:12 PM.. Reason: Typos |

It works for psychics too. They can throw out tons of wrong info, but since they apparently know your dead dog was named spot and he misses you, they have the gift.

It’s just like all those ‘crypto advisors’ on Twitter. Will just spew off a ton of different coins to throw money at, then will make a huge deal if one goes up 5-10%....ignoring the fact that if you bought everything they ‘advised’ on, you would actually be *down* about 200%. Though, they’ll go back and delete said incorrect tweets when they realize it was a bad call. And will post gems like ‘Just check my Twitter history at the amazing calls I’ve made!’.

With Rolex, it's all we can do is wait and see. They don't tend to leak rumours of what might or might not be forthcoming. The only person on here who is consistently correct with 'rumours' is Haywood. Unfortunately, these threads help no one other than those who enjoy a good belly laugh. You'll see that for yourself once you've been around a bit longer. Most of us will appreciate that you passed on information in good faith from what you would reasonably assume to be a reliable source. Unfortunately, when talking about what's in the future regarding Rolex, ADs don't know shit from mucky pudding.

I reckon they will discontinue the batman in steel and discontinue the blro in white gold and put the batman bezel on the white gold watch with the new movement. The blue/black bezel is probably the most desired one out there and if they are having trouble making it they will most likely only want to put it on their most exclusive model.
That means those select few how have the steel version will be very lucky as it will most likely go up in value |

And what are you talking about ‘having trouble making it’? Red and blue is more difficult than blue and black? |

It's about perception. I felt I was being antagonized by members for posting what turned out to be dubious claims from an AD; but other members thought I was "belligerent" or "trolling" for defending myself or perhaps even starting the thread in the first place. Last, please don't be another armchair psychiatrist by insinuating that I have anger issues. Try to stick to the topic at hand. |
