Are Submariners "LOUD?"

I keep reading posts about people not wearing their Subs because it "draws attention" to them. I've seen youtube videos were guys go with Explorer I's instead of a Sub because Subs stand out too much. I never saw a Sub as a "loud" watch. What do you fellas think?

It's a very clean and handsome watch, don't see it as "loud" at all.

I don’t think it’s loud, but because the sub is so popular, it’s very recognizable. When people see a sub, they know it’s a Rolex.

Depends on who's wearing it, to some degree.

I've seen Invicta and Seiko Sub divers,
aren't those loud? Is the sub loud because it's says
Rolex on the dial ?

I don't think the Rolex sub is loud ... personally

A Sub, loud? No

Some Sub wearers? Hell yes, we've all met some of them.

Perhaps those suggesting they are loud just feel more self conscious wearing a Sub due to the cost. $9k is a lot of money to most people.

Only when new as the bracelets tend to squeak a bit.

I tend to spot most models from afar so they are all loud to me. But if I had to pick one to be the loudest look at me watch it would be the two tone ceramics.

Not at all. Anyone that thinks a SS Sub is loud, just has a complex about wearing a Rolex.

"Loud" and "recognizable" are very different concepts. Just because a watch draws attention doesn't mean it's loud.

I'd say 6 digit subs can be pretty flashy even in SS. The ceramic bezel and the brushed bracelet shines very well when the light hits it right. It still has a strong wrist presence.

However, definitely no where as "loud" as say, the YM2.

I don't consider my 14060M or any five-digit Sub to be "loud," which is not to say that I think the Sub is appropriate for all occasions.

The ceramic Subs and GMTs, while not really loud, are, shall we say, quite dazzling.

My 114270, to me, is the perfectly discreet Rolex.

Within reason of the event / situation, wear what i want. Could be blinged DD40, or a Sub ND, or SS SkyD blue, or the.... The Sub is not loud, never heard anyone say it was.
